I'm taking amoxil (amoxicillin) 1g/tab for a periodontal abscess. Is it to drink a few glasses of wine while taking it?

Wine is fine: I would also get a proxibrush and use a mixture of 1/4 clove oil 1/4 oregano oil and 1/2 olive oil use this a few time a day and your gums should feel better. I would suggest a nutritional program to greatly help reduce your gum disease. ...Read more

STI tests negative. What else could cause PID? Would amoxicillin, 1g azithromycin and Metronidazole be effective?

STI tests negative. What else could cause PID? Would amoxicillin, 1g azithromycin and Metronidazole be effective?

Any bacteria will do: It doesn't have to be a sexually transmitted bacteria to cause PID as any bacteria that is not indigenous to the vagina that migrates into the Fallopian tubes can cause a Salpingitis (Tubal infection) aka PID. This most often occurs during intercourse, but even tuberculosis can infect the Fallopian tubes and cause PID. Once the organism is cultured the correct antibiotic(s) can be given. ...Read more

I have to take 1g amoxicillin three times a day, how often should I take it? Can it be taken say every 6 hours?

I have to take 1g amoxicillin three times a day, how often should I take it? Can it be taken say every 6 hours?

6 hours is fine: If the prescription says 3 times a day (tid), every 8 hours is not the requirement. When it comes to oral antibiotics such as amoxicillin, every 6 hours should be practically just as good. Long answer but that's what i expect of my patients if i write 3 times a day prescription. It means 3 times a day while awake, roughly every 6 hours. ...Read more

I have used 2 boxes of roaccutane 20 mg and just finished them 1 month ago. Now I am sick and I am taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 1g. Is there any conflict in that?

Roaccutane: Isotretinoin (roaccutane) is a potent acne drug that is usually taken for several months. It is usually out of your system in a matter of a few weeks. In the us, the fda has determined 4 weeks. If you finished 4 wks ago, there should be no conflict with the Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) you are taking. ...Read more

Insect bite?: You CAN do anything you wish. The question is whether it is appropriate, and without seeing the area in question it is impossible to know what is needed. The best thing to do is let a doctor see this. Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) even if you need an antibiotic, is far down the list of potential choices. Go see your family doctor. ...Read more
