Amlodipine Lisinopril Combination Rct
After taking combination therapy (5 mg amlodipine +10 mg lisinopril)my blood pressure fall to 85/55 is this ok or dangrous?
Not perfect: That level of drop in bp, from what i assume was a number that was abnormally high, is greater than it should be, and suggests that you are on more therapy than you need. Sometimes, with the first dose of a vasodilator, the drop is higher than it will be on subsequent doses, but it still suggests you are on more medicine than you need. Dehydration can also cause this type of response. ...Read more

Yes, but . . .: Lisinopril & amlodipine are used to lower blood pressure. In someone w/normal blood pressure, it can potentially lower blood pressure too much leading to weakness & lightheadedness to point of passing out. Best to monitor blood pressure closely. Go to nearest ER if it drops lower than usual. Have someone else take you b/c you don't want to pass out while driving. ...Read more

Is it just as fine to take lisinopril/hctz versus taking lisinopril and amlodipine in a patient with a TIA with no recurrence in 9 months.
Choice of drugs: The answer to your question depends on how well controlled your blood pressure is on the lisinopril/hctz as opposed to it on amolodipine. The lower your blood pressure, without symptoms of hypotension, the less risk you have for strokes, heart attacks and renal failure in the future. Ask the physician (p) who wrote your prescriptions for advice, as your p knows your history better. Good luck. ...Read more
