Amitriptyline Stomach Pain
If taking Elavil (amitriptyline) and lorazepam have helped my chronic stomach pain, does that mean the pain is "all in my head"?
Yes: Ibs is a multi-factorial disease.I submit you are a mind, body and spirit. If any of these parts are "ill" you are ill.If you don't address the "mind" part your brain will make you feel sick.Recommend you follow your dr's recommendation of elavil (amitriptyline).I use it often in this situation. ...Read more

If you haven't already, please contact your primary care provider right away and describe your symptoms. Avoid ALL alcohol. Call 911 if thinking very seriously about suicide and have a plan. ...Read more

Pain and insomnia: Difficult to say, but Amitriptyline is commonly used in pain management and also for insomnia. It is not a pain medication, but can be helpful in managing pain. The dose of 5 mg is not generally sufficient to treat depression, so appears it appears the prescribing Dr. was targeting other symptoms. Hope this is helpful. ...Read more
Weaning off 10mg amitriptyline per Dr. to get pregnant. 4 nights of cutting pill in half - this morning woke up with nausea, bad abdominal pain, diarrhea. NOT pregnant yet. What do I do?
Discontinuation : the symptoms are not inconsistent with withdrawal due to amitriptyline's anticholinergic properties but would have not been expected given the starting dose for reduction was low at 10mg per day. assuming no other known causes for symptoms best approach is to restart at initial dose and resume taper a at slower rate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
