Serotonin drugs: Taking both medications may increase your risk for serotonin syndrome. Mirtazapine may be a better adjunct to duloxetine. Duloxetine could be raised to a higher dose first. If additional treatment is needed, consider mirtazapine augmentation

Are there any dangerous interactions between neurontin, (gabapentin) tramadol, and amitriptyline?

Are there any dangerous interactions between neurontin, (gabapentin) tramadol, and amitriptyline?

Yes: Theoretically this combination may result in mental slowing and other related central nervous system effects. Again, in theory, concomitant use of Amitriptyline and teamadol may cause seizures and so-called serotoninergic syndrome. However, if you take the medications and have no side effects, no other actions but monitoring is required.

My doctors have me on both sertraline (100mg) and amitriptyline (20 mg). Should I be worried about interactions like serotonin syndrome?

I have had patients: On very low dose Amitriptyline with SSRI and none of them had any issues (knocking on wood); however, yes, I do always caution them about potential interactions and advise that they call me immediately should anything occur.

Epocrates no interac: Epocrates shows no interactions between levothyroxin and amitriptyline. Even if there were, it would be likely to be insignificant due to the low dose of Amitriptyline that you are taking. No need to worry. Have a good night.

One too many: Taking two serotonergic drugs with similar mechanism of action is generally not advisable. Serotonin syndrome which can be seriously life threatening may occur. Talk with you doctor about getting on one serotonin drug.

Moderate interaction: Oxazepam & Elavil (amitriptyline) can cause a moderate amount of dizziness, drowsiness, & difficulty concentrating. Judgment or thinking can be affected. Driving or using power tools or other machinery shouldn't be done until you know how the medication combo affects you. More questions? Write me at: www. Healthtap.
