Ambien Alcohol Interaction
I stopped using alcohol 4 days ago. I was also using Ambien and lirazepam for the last month or so. I'm only using 1 10mg Ambien, want to stop, help?
Lorazepam?: This probably needs to be tapered if you've been on it a while. Conversion to a longer acting benzodiazepine like Klonopin can help with the tapering process. I suggest you enlist the aid of a neuropsychopharmacologist. (Any good, caring and available doctor would do for now ) When all is said and done you should find that the ultimate treatment is better than the untreated underlying condition. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm prescribed 10mg Ambien to take every night, and been on it for 5+ months. I've built up a tolerance, is there a higher dose I can take?
No: Ambien 10 mg is the maximum dose. The problem with ALL the tranquilizer type sleep meds is you build a tolerance to them and they don't work after a while. This is why it's best not to take these every night. Taking them every 2-3 nights works better. Alternative meds that could help with sleep are Trazodone, Remeron, or Vistaril. These often are not addicting/do not cause tolerance. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
