I stopped using alcohol 4 days ago. I was also using Ambien (zolpidem) and lirazepam for the last month or so. I'm only using 1 10mg Ambien (zolpidem), want to stop, help?
Lorazepam?: This probably needs to be tapered if you've been on it a while. Conversion to a longer acting benzodiazepine like Klonopin (clonazepam) can help with the tapering process. I suggest you enlist the aid of a neuropsychopharmacologist. (Any good, caring and available doctor would do for now ) When all is said and done you should find that the ultimate treatment is better than the untreated underlying condition. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I usually take 10mg of ambien (zolpidem) some nights to sleep but after reading an article about them causing death I'm scared to take it. Is it safe? If not what is a safe alternative that my dr can prescribe..
AvoidTheDeepSleep: This is a tough one. Lots of people are taking nightly doses of various "sleep aids." Often for good reasons. But none are intended nor should be used for the long-term. And Ambien (zolpidem) is one squirrely drug! Not so much about death as in dependence, personality changes and rebound if not used. To "usually" take something for sleep is its own problem. Best to find a natural workaround.Talk to your doc ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

Insomnia: Ambien (zolpidem) treats insomnia, but not curatively. It is a symptom management tool only, to be used on a temporary basis. If your insomnia is long-standing, it's best to have a full evaluation. While it may well help you sleep, Ambien (zolpidem) can also be habit-forming. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
