Mitral Valve Prolapse (Definition)

Mitral valve prolapse is when the mitral valve that separates the heart's left atrium and left ventricle does not close appropriately. When the heart contracts to push blood from the left ventricle to the rest of the body, portions of the mitral valve move backwards into the left atrium. This can cause regurgitation of blood from the left ventricle into the left atrium. Most of the time a mitral valve prolapse is asymptomatic and does ...Read more

Is there such a thing as pregnancy induced mitral valve prolapse? That Goes away after pregnancy?

The heart goes: through some remodeling and the circulating volume increases during pregnancy. Hormonal changes result in increased compliance of cartilaginous tissues. These changes can result in transient changes in the valvular anatomy and cardiac physiology that could result in transient prolapse. Is early repolarization dangerous I have pvcs mvp and er?

No: Early repolarization is not dangerous , it is a benign ECG finding that reflects how your heart resets itself after an electrical event (which precedes the mechanical event of contraction ). Likewise, mvp in the vast majority of cases is not dangerous and the pvc's associated are more a nuisance than a dange. The exception is in rare cases when mvp is assoc with significant regurgitation. ...Read more

I did echocardio i have mvp & extrasystole. I take magnesium. Small effort my heart beating 120 min and 2-3 extrasystole. Can i do sport? Dangerous?

Begin slowly: MVP is generally not dangerous. Relatively increased heart rate with very mild exertion can be signs of dehydration, anemia (low blood count) or thyroid issues, and a high adrenalin state related to stress and anxiety. Also could be a sign of being out of shape. Would address above issues with your doctor. Hydrate, start exercise slowly and add stress reduction eg breathing, yoga, meditation. ...Read more

Is anterior leaflet mvp serious?

Depends: It depends on whether or not you have mitral valve regurgitation and how severe. There are a whole lot of mvp diagnosed patients who actually do not have it per the new criteria, so any further advice i would give you would be mere speculation because I do not even know if you truly have mvp. However, in the absence of mitral regurgitation, mvp is not serious. ...Read more
