Depession lifelong?: If depression if treated to remission, be totally normal in all aspects of life, medication(s) can be gradually tapered off. If depression recurs, resume treatment for longer duration (twice as long) before tapering off. If depression recurs again then treatment needs be for life. See a therapist: It would be very important for you to work with a therapist directly about this. You seem to recognize how your partner's behavior affects you -- have you discussed this with him? Sometimes I go for weeks only sleeping 1-6 hours a night but I feel well rested. I am bipolar but I don't feel manic or depressed. Is that normal?
Manic: Supposedly, it proves the point that manic shows in the behavior (barely sleeping) and is not felt as a problem ("I don't feel manic").
