On remicade (infliximab) for uc. Max dose every 5 weeks.Disease flareup after 3 weeks since infusion.Gi advises switch over to humira. Any recommendations?
Reasonable: Switching to another tnf agent may lead to better disease control so it is worth a try. It is not, however, certain that the switch will provide additional benefit. ...Read more
Mayby: There was one japanese study that suggested a plant based diet decreased the relapse rate of crohn's in remission. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc2877178/pdf/wjg-16-2484.pdf unfortunately no pharma money is there to fund a f/u study. - for obvious reasons. If it was me, i'd try the veggie diet for 6 to 12 months. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Gi suggested colonoscopy to check colon condition before switching from remicade (infliximab) to humira. Treated for uc. Had colonoscopy 2 yrs ago. Is this needed?
Child has JRA failed enbrel and had side effects from it so dr gave choice humira or remicade (infliximab) Which is better ? I'm confused snd do know what to do!
TNF Inhibitors: All of the medications offered to your child work in similar ways the difference is how the meds are given. Humira (adalimumab) is an injection that can be done at home every two weeks, while remicaide is an IV medication that must be done in an infusion unit or hospital. These medication have similar side effects and benefits. My advice is try the medication that is least disruptive to your lifestyle. ...Read more
Humira losing its effectiveness with RA. Unable to tolerate MTX or Plaquenil. Any Rheumotologists think Remicade (infliximab) would be a good option?
Can't hurt to try: I'm a family doctor, not a rheumatologist, but I do have RA patients who are on Remicaid who are responding very well with it. I don't know what that's worth to you, but I thought I would share. I think it's being used a lot more and does have FDA indication for RA. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

For 10 yrs I've been on 6mp for Ulcerative Colitis with ups and downs. How should I decide between 6mp, Entyvio, and Remicade/Humira moving forward?
Ulcerative Colitis: By visiting a gastroenterology clinic that you feel takes excellent care of your UC, keeps you informed of any changes needed, makes you feel like you are important, and calls you back within 12-24 hours of a phone call to their office. Finding the right doctor(s) for your condition is essential. Excellent doctors can also provide excellent insight into which medication(s) would work best for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What to do if I have krohns disease and need a remicade (infliximab) treatment every 8 weeks. But my parents are about to kick me out.?
For medium-active Crohn's disease, is remicade (infliximab) better off as the first line of treatment than methotrexate? Azoran has been ruled out.
See details: Often the combination of both is the most effective therapy. Often Methotrexate is tried first because it is easier to administer, is much less expensive and can be effective as a single agent. However, for severe disease i would opt for Remicade (infliximab) either alone or in combination as the first choice. ...Read more
After my last remicade (infliximab) treatment for my colitis, i saw a little blood then brown in my urine. After a few hours, it was gone. What happened?

On the 7th morning of my tonsillectomy recovery im getting my remicade (infliximab) treatment, will the recovery get harder?
Infliximab & Tonsils: At 7 days you are probably about to turn the corner in your recovery. Not sure why you are on infliximab, but b/c it is an immunosuppressant, you should make sure that your ENT & your primary doctor are collaborating on the timing of this. More frequent follow up may be warranted during recovery on a med like this. At facevalue prob won't make recovery any "harder" barring set-backs u would notice. ...Read more
