Alternative Treatments For Phyllodes Tumor
My son has a nf2 tumors in the spine. 1 of intramedullary c2. Please advice about alternative treatments to keep tumor growth.?
Beware: Junior needs to be treated at a major cancer center. Ask about gamma knife treatment. You will also be approached by cancer quacks offering "alternative medicines" and talking about conspiracies to suppress a cure. They will take your money and when their treatments fail, they will say it is because you ate GMO food or something. I hope it's possible to help your son. Best wishes.See 2 more doctor answers
"tumor" literally translates as "mass", so even a fresh bruise could be called a "tumor". Doctors use the term "neoplasm" (tranlates literally as new growth) to describe tumors that are abnormal growths of cells. These may be benign or malignant; "malignant" = cancer. In everyday usage, we use "tumor" ...Read more
Combination: I would never suggest fighting any tumor alone with alternative therapies but as combination therapy with conventional medicine; I would definitely add large quantities of food enzymes on an empty stomach with solid organic nutrition and I would add protandim to eliminate oxidative stress. Tag me in email thru my website and check protandim www. Medacpc. Com.See 1 more doctor answer
Many but not good: There are many proposed so called alternative treatments for brain tumors and not one has been shown to help a patient in any convincing fashion. If you have a brain tumor you absolutely should work with a physician (s) experienced in the treatment of these tumors. Furthermore, although some alternative treatments are harmless, some are not--and their use should also be discussed with your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
The only: Lung cancer I expect a complete response to is small cell. The next steps vary depending on what the plan was: was t given before surgery? Radiotherapy? Was the expectation that the chemotherapy was curative? Go with him to the medical oncology visit scheduled to review the tratment plan. Treatment may be palliative. If symptoms, ask what else can be done.See 2 more doctor answers
Can you tell me if there are alternative medicine treatments for someone diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor?
Questionable: There are numerous forms of malignant brain tumors. No herbal, chiropractic, or other methodologies are helpful. Specific. Tissue diagnosis is crucial for the appropriate considerations of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
None: None that I know of.Get a more detailed answer ›
Possibly: AD is an incurable degenerative disease of the brain. There have been some studies using medium chain triglycerides to 'feed' the brain (Axona). Recently a study supported the use of hi dose Vit E. Other supplements include Vinpocetine and phosphatidyl serine. Be careful even with supplements and 'natural' products- they maybe unsafe or have interactions with other products or medications.
Depends on cause: With paralysis from a stroke or from a spinal cord injury, the mainstays of treatment start with physical and occupational therapy. The goal is to retrain the muscles and decrease disuse atrophy and spasticity (stiffness). There is a lot of research being done on stem cell transplants and electrocortical activation of prosthetics. We anxiously await their progress.
No: Since there's very little standard treatment for rabies once the disease has begun, it's hard to talk about "alternative treatments." someone with rabies should be hospitalized. There have been a few cases of survival with an induced coma. The most important way to deal with rabies is to give human rabies immunoglobulin (hrig) and Rabies Vaccine after exposure, before the onset of disease.
None really: Nothing other than surgery has proven to be effective for cataracts. Surgery is so highly successfuly that there is nothing to be worried about. Alternative supplements, maneuvers and medications are of no benefit.
Yes, 3: There are 3 proven strategies for treating allergies. 1) avoidance works, although only a few allergens are easy to avoid. 2) medications. Nasal steroids are the most effective medications for most allergy symptoms. 3) allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots) - the only disease modifying therapy. Many patients can develop tolerance to their allergens after receiving allergy shots.
Yes: Surgery is usually the last resort for most back problems except major trauma. Therapy, postural exercises, yoga, weight loss and/or exercise, gait training, job retraining, as well as meditatation (to relieve stress) are helpful adjucts. Note: not all back pain is created equal to please get check by a specialist. Note: beware of fad or gimmicky advertisements for back relief. Feel better.
Alternative tx?: I don't know what you mean by "alternative treatments for schizophrenia". It you can tell me what they are - I will try to comment on each. Schizophrenia requires life-long treatment with use of atypical antipsychotics as the mainstay. Conventional neuroleptics are an option. Psychosocial treatments that go hand in hand with meds include: family therapy, social skills training & voc rehab.
Chemotherapy: Other than surgery medication including chemotherapy can be used, depending on the histology and aggressiveness of the tumor.
NO: Sorry, but there are absolutely no alternative treatments that have ever made even trivial benefits to pts with als, and there seems to be no future alternative rx that seems to make any sense. The medicine approach involves mainly riluzole, and palliation, with some consideration for using glutamate blockers. These approaches are not cures, but can possibly slow somewhat.
