Diagnosis first: If our eyes actually hurt, you need to see an ophthalmologist (eye doctor, md) asap. If red an ditch along with some discomfort (but no pain), use cold compresses, rinse y our eyes with artificial tears such as genteal, referesh or systane and take antihistamine drops (for instance ketotifen [zaditor, alaway). Don't take those that "takes the red out of y our eyes!" no better, see the eye doctor. ...Read more

See opthalmologist: Optician specializes in refraction and not diseases. Allergy is associated with itchy as would be ocular rosacea. I suspect that your problem is more likley form dry eye. ...Read more

IPL for Rosacea: Intense pulsed light (ipl), or "photofacial", is an appropriate treatment for the redness of rosacea. A few treatments spaced approx. A month apart will be needed. A topical antibiotic like Metronidazole may be used in between sessions.
