Alternative Treatments For Interstitial Lung Disease
IPF treatment: Steroids and nac do not work as by a recent not yet published randomized study. Pirfenidone is approved in japan and germany, at around $80, 000 every year. It stops deterioration in about 1/3 of treated patients but no improvement. I would not use it because the benefits are small. But I do have several patients who buy it overseas.See 5 more doctor answers
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
None: Some studies are looking at perfenidone and n-acetyl-cysteine as treatment, but neither is likely to have substantial impact on mortality or possibility of cure. Only supplemental oxygen is currently available.
Unfortunately none: There is no effective treatment for interstitial lung disease that alters progression or mortality. In fact treatment has been shown to worsen survival over no treatment. That said, two treatments are currently in progress; perfenidone and n-acetyl -cysteine may have some limited role in improving outcomes, but the data is not yet complete.
Lung disease hospita: Generally speaking in the hospital with a good pulmonary medicine department should be able to treat interstitial lung disease. There are some specialty hospitals that focus on this. Most notably is National Jewish medical center in Denver Colorado.
Not much: Make sure you have a definitive diagnosis, as interstitial lung disease may mimic many other problems that are easily treatable, and there are also several kinds of interstitial lung diseases with very different prognoses. You need a god pulmonologist who specializes in the above. Good luck!
Lung scarring: Interstitial lung disease comprises several disorders that affect the connective tissue of the lungs and results in loss of surface area where air can interact with blood. Some cases are associated with auto immune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, but many have no known cause and are relentlessly progressive without effective treatment.
No: No current therapies including homeopathic drugs have had any effect on improving interstitial lung disease.
Check resources: This group of rare childhood interstitial lung diseases encompasses many different conditions. Go to http://www. Nih. Gov/health/clinicaltrials/findingatrial. Htm or http://www. Child-foundation. Com/ for more info or to contact a researcher in this field.
Depends on the type: Interstitial lung disease is a generalized term used to describe multiple diseases that affect the interstitial tissue (the lung tissue among the airways). Some of them can be related to immune problem esp., if the patient has autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus etc. Some of them related to allergy and the others are idiopathic (we do not know what causing the disease).See 2 more doctor answers
Interstitium: Is that area between the walls of the air sacs or alveoli. Oxygen diffuses from the air sacs to the blood vessels located in the interstitial area. Ild is the presence of inflammation in that area making the distance for diffusion of the oxygen farther for the traveling or flowing blood to pick up. If the inflammation causes scarring it is pulmonary fibrosis.
Many causes: Interstitial lung disease is a thickening of the skeleton structure that supports airsacs (alveoli) in the lungs. There are many causes of interstitial lung disease (rheumatic illness, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, radiation damage, infection). It is not possible to say whether the disease is curable because interstitial lung disease is an "umbrella" term that covers many diseases.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends: The etiology if fumes or toxins avoidance. If secondary to collagen vascular disease or others then treat primary condition. In these cass steroids & cytotoxic drugs help or controls the condition but if idiopsthic fibrosis occurs then at present no fda approved drug exists. A study drug is currently been in the works & ifd a natural substance then use nac & a high anti oxidant diet.See 1 more doctor answer

Depends...: Did you have an open lung biopsy or a biopsy via bronchoscopy? The more common is via bronchoscopy and the side effects of this include coughing up some blood, which should be small amounts and should stop after a few days. Other possible side effects include low grade fever, cough. If you are coughing significant amounts of blood, high fever or short of breath, then you need to go to the er.See 2 more doctor answers
Can gerd cause interstitial lung disease? And if so are the chances of developing ILD from gerd small?
In theory, yes: Gerd can in theory cause lung problems if there is a chronic regurgitation of stomach acid that is aspirated into the lungs. This is a very rare event for a young otherwise healthy person.
