Alternative To Chemo
I am wondering what hodgkin's lymphoma treatments are there alternative to mainstream chemo and radiotherapy?
Beware: Alternative treatments for cancer are cropping up all over the place. Cancer patients (and their families) can be extremely vulnerable to being drawn in by promises of healing where the mainstream medical community has been unable to help much. Beware of people who would take advantage of this vulnerability with hefty up-front fees and promises of miracle-like cures. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is the gold nano particles (chemo alternative) for lymphomas available for treatment, read article sometime back for this chemo alternative.
Clinical trials: Nanoparticles are not available for standard treatment, however they are currently being evaluated in human clinical trials. Each clinical trial has its own inclusion and exclusion rules. It may be possible to get enrolled on such a study at the current time. Pl suggest any alternative remedy/ies for multiple myeloma I am 48 yer old and no m band seen at this moment after 6 months of chemo?
Homeopathy, herbs ;: There are no proven alternatives for multiple myeloma but that does not mean they may not help; but i would continue standard treatments too. A healthy diet, tonifying herbs, reducing body burden of heavy metals ; other environmental toxins, stress reduction ; working to clear unresolved anger/grief etc. Can only help. I also advise classical homeopathy with a good homeopath. See comments for more:. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No disrespect to: Anybody, but are you being treated by folks with expertise in CNS cancers? I'm not implying you have been poorly managed, i'm sure your docs are good competent guys, but at this point i would visit an academic cancer center with a neuro-oncology team and availability of clinical trials. Best to you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Will a taxane for chemo cause permanent peripheral neuropathy if hereditary pn in family? Any alternative to taxane?
Depends: Taxanes may cause permanent neuropathy in any patient although uncommon. There is increased intolerance to taxanes and preexisting sensory neuropathy. Unless the individual is effected by hereditary neuropathy I am not aware of any data suggesting an increased risk just because the family is affected. Whether taxanes can be replaced depends on disease and for what purpose it is used. ...Read more
Operated for Astrocytoma Grade 3 left frontal brain tumor. Will go for radio nd chemo therapy in a few days.Which precautions/alternative can be taken?
Define your terms: Not clear what you mean by "precautions" or "alternatives." Precautions re XRT and chemo or for something else? The "alternative" to treatment is to do nothing; or to resort to traditional Indian medicine, which is the same as doing nothing, & don't let any well-meaning but ignorant laypeople or charlatans tell you different; unless all you're interested in is feeling better about dying. ...Read more
I have sle. Prednisone helped, but plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) makes me throw up. Doc wants to try methotrexate, but i heard that's chemo. Any safe alternatives?
Possibly: Methotrexate is used to decrease your immune response like prednisone. They do it different ways, but they all have risks. If the mtx works for you, you should use it. There are other choices, but they can also have serious side effects. Your doctor knows best. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
