Alternating Aleve And Tylenol
If you do: Would consider alternating them, and not taking the maximum allowable dose for each, rather take less 25% less than that. If you have hepatitis or bad liver would not take tylenol; or bad kidney or allergies to anti-inflammatory medicine/aspirin, would not take aleve (naproxen). ...Read more

Yes but caution: Tylenol (acetaminophen) and alleve work in distinct ways to alleviate pain. But just because they are available over-the-counter doesn't mean they are entirely safe. Always take alleve with food, do not mix tylenol (acetaminophen) with alcohol, and keep well-hydrated. Ses your doctor if you have continued need for these meds. They may alleviate symptoms, but do not get at the root cause. ...Read more

My pain is severe. I took 2 aleve. Would it be ok to take 1 Tylenol (acetaminophen) extra strength?
No reports: Dangerous interactions are not listed, but you may want to see a professional for any severe pain especially if it is new. At least ask a pharmacist for an opinion about your condition as viewed by them. ...Read more
My 14 year old daughter took aleve this morning (5-6 hours ago). Can she take one tylenol (500mg) now?
Aleve and Tylenol ok: Aleve is naproxen which is an NSAID. Tylenol is acetaminophen which is not an NSAID. It is ok to take aleve and Tylenol or ibuprofen (Advil) and Tylenol. It is not ok to have naproxen (aleve) and ibuprofen (Advil) together. People should also make sure if they are taking cold meds that they don't have these ingredients in them already. ...Read more
Can I alternate 440 mg of aleve with extra strength Tylenol (acetaminophen)? And how many hours in between the 2? Thank you!
I had a laparascopy on the 12 of august and I feel a lot of pain for the last couple of days that my aleve/Tylenol is doing nothing to help.?
Tylenol (acetaminophen) is ok: Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (such as lexapro) may enhance the antiplatelet effect of NSAID (such as Aleve/Advil). NSAID may diminish the therapeutic effect of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. That being said, many of my patients take both with no problems. ...Read more
I've had on/off fever for months, but now it's been 11 days w/o relief with aleve/tylenol. Begins a few hours after I wake and I feel terrible. Ideas?
CIDP management: In my review, I did not find fever as a manifestation of cidp. However, cidp is an immunological disorder that makes you more susceptible to infections. You need to see the physician who is treating your cidp for an evaluation. If he (she) has no new suggestions, ask for a referral to an infectious disease specialist. ...Read more
Depends on patient: Mobic (meloxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (nsiad). Aleve (naproxen) is also an nsaid. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not an anti-inflammatory medicine. Mobic lasts longer and in most cases needs to be taken once daily. Patients react differently to nsaids. So the efficacy frequently is patient dependent. ...Read more

Can I combine Aleve and tylenol (acetaminophen) to help relieve my toothache? If not, which OTC pain killer is best for my toothache?
Yes: Yes, in fact those two in combination work quite well. When the pain progresses, often times no pain medications will "make a dent" in it. You should interpret your pain as a warning sign and be evaluated before it progresses to a dental emergency. An alternative to aleve (naproxen) is ibuprofen. Either of these are probably your best otc options. ...Read more
