Altenitive For Eliquis
A question for cardiologists...Did we give gp2b/3a inhibitors (abciximab...) with aspirin and clopidogrel during pci or only aspirin and clopidogrel?
Is rivaroxaban xalerto safe and good drug for preventing stroke in Afib compared to aspirin and plavix (clopidogrel) together in72 yr man with hypertension,s.cr1.56?
Xalerto is best: His CHA2DS2-VASc score is 2 (age and presence of hypertension). All studies have concluded that the benefit from anticoagulation significantly exceeds the risks for almost all AF patients with a score of 2 or more. Xalerto will more effectively reduce his risk of stroke and won't increase his risk of bleeding. ...Read more
Been on plavix (clopidogrel) for 6 month, drug eluting stent. Is it safe to switch to effient? My cardiologist wasn't sure. Will it be better for anxiety problem?
Views on aggrenox vs clopidogrel for someone who had a tia. My mother is taking aggrenox but clopidogrel is cheaper and studies show no difference.
Is it safe for me to take Garcinia Cambogia I've had triple bypass and braceytherapy for prostate cancer and on Lipitor (atorvastatin) avapro flomaxtra Nexium plavix?
Ask your doctor.: There is no proven benefit for Hydroxycitric acid (g. cambogia.) for this in any reputable study. There's also no information on safe dosages in people who have liver or kidney problems, pregnant or nursing women, children. Since it doesn't work, why take a chance. If you are still interested in trying it, check with all your doctors and get their okay first. See http://tinyurl.com/lpzb8d6 ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is it ok to be on Plavix (clopidogrel) for APS if aspirin had quit being as effective for symptoms associated with Antiphospholipid syndrome?
Comments: ASA is not very effective unless taken in relatively high dosing, such as 325mg four times daily, and clopidigrel is far superior to 81 mg of ASA. Do not take both, as there is increased risk of brain bleeding. One alternative, Aggrenox, does contain aspirin in combination, but is a very different product from Plavix (clopidogrel). ...Read more
Can I substitute Plavix (clopidogrel) for Eliquis? I have Atril fibrillation condition. What are advantages and disadvantages of each medication, if substitutes?
I am on Coumadin (warfarin) for life for a dvt/pe where they found a factor 5 gene mutation. Is there any alternative to Coumadin (warfarin) that will allow me greens?
Have persistent afib tee showed clots forming in heart have filter won't do tikocin for 4 weeks waiting for Coumadin (warfarin) to clear it on coreg any options?
What filter?: Not sure what filter you're talking about, there are no filters for left atrial clots. Your only options at this point are anticoagulants like coumadin, (warfarin) pradaxa, eliquis, or xarelto; after which a repeat tee needs to be done and then i would not mess with tikosyn and instead go for electric cardioversion if there are no clots left. You then need to stay on the drug for one more month at least. ...Read more

61yrs female, taking hydrochloridiazide for hbp what is alternative for diomox for travelling tolhasa tibet. ?
Alternate: Diamox (acetazolamide) is standard for preventing altitude sickness but only needs to be taken for 1 day before travel & a few days after. Talk to your doc but, if your BP is controlled on hct, your simplest option is just to skip it while taking Diamox (acetazolamide) (also a diuretic). Make sure your potassium level is not low from the diuretics, becuse both low potassium & altitude can cause extra heartbeats. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the recommended blood thinners for 72 yr male with hypertension (Apixaban) or combined antiplatlet (A&P)which regime is more safe andeffective?
Are pradaxa and rivaroxaban satisfactory replacements for warfarin if it's not readily available?
Usually: In non-embolic stroke, not caused by heart valve or rhythm disturbance, Aspirin is adequate first-line treatment. Other antiplatelet drugs may be useful if a person is Aspirin intolerant such as plavix (clopidogrel). Note compination Aspirin & Plavix (clopidogrel) offers no advantage than either drug alone but increases side-effects. Combination of Aspirin & dipyridamol (aggrenox) however is better than either drug alone. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
