Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system . So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight , dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more

I took a diet pill two days ago and i'm gonna take a alprazolam 0.5 will it interfere or no is it ok to take alprazolam two after taking the diet pill?
OK but: No problem but you are taking an upper one day then a downer a couple of days later. I think you may benefit from some counseling since your chances of losing weight from this approach are nil. Once you get your emotional state stabilized, you will more likely be successful in getting your weight down. ...Read more
I need to get some sleep tonight. Can I take 1 Xanax, (alprazolam) 0.5 and 1 Percocet to get a good nights sleep? Thank you
Not recommended: It's always best to use medications as prescribed. Xanax (alprazolam) is addicting. So is Percocet (oxycodone + acetaminophen). Both can also cause confusion & increase risk of falls. When used together, risk increases dramatically. So does death rate. Talk to your Family Doc about your insomnia. Consider OTC options. Research sleep hygiene. And avoid sedative-hypnotics like Ambien (zolpidem). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I have tinnitus and have an alprazolam 0.5 Rx 2 x's a day. Can a person switch quickly to valium without bad adjustment effects? Thanks.
Switch to valium: Valium and Alprazolam are in the same class of medications and act on the same receptors, so one is technically a replacement for the other. Valium's onset is much slower and its effects last much longer, so it will probably feel quite different from what you're used to with the Alprazolam. I would talk with your doctor about the best way to transition from one medication to the other. ...Read more
Iam taking cipralx 20mg per day and Xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 per day and i want to use fat reduction pills (lipo 6 black for woman does it have any drug interaction?
Don't; Probably Bad: We don't know what lipo 6 black does really. Many interactions can occur with prescription meds and these kinds of proprietary blends. The company warns regarding antidepressants (underground.Nutrex.Com/products/lipo6-black.Asp). Moreover, the stimulants can undo the effects of citalopram and alprazolam. It can even even produce a serotonin syndrome (ss) in combination (people have died with ss). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If a doctor has: prescribed you both drugs, I am not sure why you are not asking the prescribing physician and/or the pharmacist who is dispensing the drug. If 2 doctors are prescribing, and one doesn't know about the other, that is a problem. If neither is prescribed, YOU SHOULD NOT be taking these meds. In general, ER drugs result in a steady state of opiate, and Xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 mg could be taken at any time with it. ...Read more
Can fluoxetine 20 or alprazolam 0.5 intensify propranolol's effect? I meant, can it intensify propranolol's side effects? Can these 3drugs cause death
Multiple medications: These 3 medications can work together safely if taken as prescribed ; you're seeing your doctor regularly. Prozac (fluoxetine) and Alprazolam may increase potential blood pressure-lowering effects of propanolol. Prozac (fluoxetine) may also decrease clearance of alprazolam, or increase its concentration -- leading to more drowsiness than expected. All these medications do need careful monitoring by your doctor. ...Read more
My date of birth is 2/3/45 accidentally took my friends 0.1 mg Clonidine. I do not have hypertension and take no meds except Xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 mg what to do?
Rebound hypertension: occurs with clonidine withdrawal. You are unlikely to have this having taken a single dose. Low blood pressure, however, can lead to orthostatic syncope. Do not arise from a reclining position without remaining seated for a few minutes to reduce the risk of this. The clonidine will wear off after 12 hours at most. Do not take Viagra (sildenafil) or nitrates for the next 12 hours. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Watch for sedation: in baby & withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking it. See http://www.drugs.com/breastfeeding/alprazolam.html. Talk to your psychiatrist about safer meds & see a psychologist for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Mom couldnt handle "adjusting period" of SSRI's so doc prescribed xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 mg twice daily. Will this ultimately cut years off her life?
No: Xanax (alprazolam) is one of several short-acting anti-anxiety meds that acts quickly to block/lower anxiety. It's not unusual to give someone with severe anxiety a short-acting med like Xanax (alprazolam) for immediate relief. She may do well on Xanax (alprazolam). Know of no data to suggest it will shorten her life. If your mom is calmer and feels more in control, she may live longer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

And always discuss new medications and changes for pros, cons, alternatives, etc. Consider CBT therapy as addition to reduce need for drugs thru learning skills. ...Read more
