Hair Loss (Definition)

Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. In men, this is called male pattern hair loss; in women, it is called ...Read more

Do oz said taking. Alpha lipoic acid is a natutral weight loss supplement I read on the internet it's not safe to take this, is this true?

Very safe, helps some: One study found that 1800 mg of Alpha lipoic acid a day combined with a reduced-calorie diet resulted in more weight loss than diet alone- see http://www. Bastyrcenter. Org/content/view/2351/ lipoic acid naturally occurs in our bodies ; is very safe (some in the study got a rash). But I'm not too impressed with the results ; that dose is pretty pricey. See http://bit. Ly/178bmuf for better options.

Can I take alpha lipoic acid for weight loss?

Can I take alpha lipoic acid for weight loss?

Alpha lipoic acid: Alpha lipoic acid is unlikely to hurt weight loss efforts but there is very limited amounts of data that it will provide significant benefits. Most analysis of diet related data speaks to the notion that calorie content trumps any micro or macro nutrient in a diet.

Hair, skin and nails vitamins, green tea, glutathione, grape seed, alpha lipoic acid, msm, nac can I take them during pregnancy.

Pregnancy: A number of the supplements you mentioned are strong antioxidants and affect the redox potential in the cell. The process of cellular differentiation has been shown to be influenced by the redox status of the cell. While it is likely that small amounts of the substances are ok, it is prudent to stick with your prenatal vitamins and avoid substances whose effects are not fully understood.

S it fine to take glutathione 500mg, milk thistle extract 100mg, alpha lipoic acid 50mg, combined with d alpha tocopheryl acetate 400 iu?

S it fine to take glutathione 500mg, milk thistle extract 100mg, alpha lipoic acid 50mg, combined with d alpha tocopheryl acetate 400 iu?

Analysis: Why do you take all these items? . Where did you find such advice? Glutathione is a wonderful anti-oxidant, but does NOT cross into the brain, so of questionable value in bloodstream. Milk thistle extract has questionable benefit in most cases. Alpha lipoic useful in peripheral and central nerve disorders. You are far better off using mixed tocopherols, especially with gamma. Do you know if alpha-lipoic acid is a detoxifier?

Do you know if alpha-lipoic acid is a detoxifier?

Mythical thinking: There is NO SUCH THING as detoxification. The notion that your body needs help to "detox" from "toxins" is a MYTH. Your body detoxifies itself just fine no matter what you do. Think critically. Arm yourself with REAL KNOWLEDGE, not pseudoscience. Be a skeptic, not a sucker. The traveling medicine shows & snake-oil salesmen may be gone but the quacks, the ignorant & the gullible are with us still.

Does acetyl L-carnitine help heal nerve damage? What about alpha lipoic acid?

Does acetyl L-carnitine help heal nerve damage? What about alpha lipoic acid?

L carnitine and: Alpha Lipoic Acid are both used to help nerve conditions such as neuropathy The L in the carnitine means it is more bio-available than carnitine. ALA needs to be taken at 1200 mg daily when used for neuropathy. Sublingual B 12 is also used. This is not diagnosis or treatment. Please see your doc. Peace and good health.

Can alpha lipoic acid cause insomnia? Is it safe to take while on zyprexa? I am Concerned it will unbalance my neurotransmitters.

Can alpha lipoic acid cause insomnia? Is it safe to take while on zyprexa? I am Concerned it will unbalance my neurotransmitters.

Safe {? }: But a waste of money. No effect on neurotransmitters. Any apparent benefit is placebo only. Any side effects are nocebo. BEWARE: there is no public agency checking on this product. It is very common for unregulated supplements to be contaminated by harmful chemicals. Don't be manipulated by phony claims.

I'm taking: acetyl-l-carnitine with alpha lipoic acid 400mg x2 day l-tyrosine 500mg day 5-htp 50-100mg day how do I balance this combo?

Balance what?: I'm not sure what you are trying to balance. You are taking supplements that have no true clinical studies that demonstrate any benefit. The vitamin/supplement industry is based on faith and placebo effect. You are best off eating a healthy diet and exercising to maintain a good "balance".

Give me your best advice for a patient struggeling with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Also would coq10 or alpha lipoic acid help. Thank u?

Seek the causes: Pots is a collection of symptoms but always has underlying causes that should be discovered ; addressed including adrenal fatigue, thyroid imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, food allergies, scar tissue inducing autonomic dysfunction, chronic infections, heavy metal toxicity etc. Coq10 ; lipoic acid may help some but consider homeopathy, acupuncture etc. Consult a holistic md: http://bit. Hi, I want to know if Alpha Lipoic acid would help in sugar control. Thanks?

Yes: Yes, alpha lipoic acid can lower blood sugar, improve insulin sensitivity and also prevent and reverse diabetic neuropathy. I advise 300-600 mg twice a day. See https://draxe. Com/alpha-lipoic-acid/ and http://www. Lifeextension. Com/magazine/2007/10/nu_lipoic_acid/page-01 and https://www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih. Gov/pubmed/22374556

Is too much alpha lipoic acid a risk for heart attacks?

No: Anna, alpha lipoic acid is an important participant in many metabolic processes in your body. There has never been a reliable study linking alpha lipoic acid to either heart disease or cancer. That being said, too much of anything is not good. Take in moderation. Hope this helps!
