Almond Oil In Pregnancy
Can we use almond oil for breast massage in pregnancy due reduce the pain n tenderness? I have breast tissue in my left breast checked by doctor.
In moderation but...:
I was surprised to find a study suggesting that women who regularly used almond oil for abdominal massage during pregnancy had increased risk of premature birth but more research is needed. Occasional use for breast massage might be fine but I would advise coconut oil instead. See http://tinyurl. Com/n69qz8s and

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Is topically using coconut oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil & aloe vera gel (as homemade lash/brow serum) safe to use during pregnancy?
Castor oil and sweet almond oil may bring on early labor, if used earlier than term.
Coconut oil and olive oil are safe in pregnancy. Topical vitamin E oil is felt to be safe, but may cause contact dermatitis in some people, as can topical aloe vera.
"When in doubt, leave it out" applies in pregnancy.

Either...: I know no good studies to guide the answer to your question so I will give you my opinion: Either one is fine and both contain good things like omegas. Soy milk is higher in protein and calories. In Asia they eat lots of soy products and have healthy babies. So, drink the one that tastes best to you but make sure it is organic to avoid pesticides. Silk makes a delicious organic soy milk! ...Read more

Protein Source: Almonds are a good fat and a good protein source, so they are a nice and healthy snack. Otherwise there are no special or extra health benefits. And, medicine would remain fully neutral on the topic of coconut oil on the skin. There is nothing there for health or not health. ...Read more

Might just rash out: No clear answer here. Manufacturers' labels warn of high risk, but I can't find quality literature proving anaphylaxis from applying products containing nut oils to intact skin. Wide differences exist in how cosmetics are processed that can affect chance of rxn. We know sensitization can happen, tho. Open skin could add risk. Alternatively contact dermatitis is possible. Prudence is best. Avoid. ...Read more
Probably fine: Flax seed is a source of omega 3 fatty acids, but there is a debate on whether or not they are a good source when compared to fish oil. You might want to check and see what percentage of DHA and omega 3's your prenatal pill has though. The prenatal vit. May have sufficient amounts that flax seed oil is unnecessary. Pregnancy is one of those times when you can get too much of a good thing ...Read more
Avoid: I would avoid topical skin care preparations with food products in them entirely, especially if you have any atopic skin conditions like eczema. If applied to open or damaged skin, these food based products can cause you to become sensitized to the food itself, putting you at risk for developing an allergy. I recommend fragrant-free, dye-free products like Vanicream, Aquaphor, Eucerin, or Cetaphil ...Read more

National Institutes of Health says "Tea tree oil is POSSIBLY SAFE when applied to the skin...it is LIKELY UNSAFE if taken by mouth" during pregnancy. See http://www. Nlm. Nih. Nobody really knows: Over-the-counter fish oil pills are usually gelatin capsules of omega-3 fish oils with some other fish oils mixed in. They are free of mercury and other toxins if they are properly purified, so it is important to choose a trustworthy brand (VERY HARD to verify testing or research). If taken at the normally recommended doses by a pregnant or breastfeeding mom, fish oil should not cause problems. ...Read more

No fetal effects: Sandra, there is no evidence that it hurts your baby. There is also no evidence it works during pregnancy either. Some have advocated it's use in pregnancy to keep blood pressure normal, or to help labor. None of these claims are proven. There are no well conducted studies on it in pregnancy but reported use has NOT found any adverse issues. Take your prenatal, stay hydrated, and eat healthy. ...Read more
