Amox & Allopurinol: There is a higher likelihood of developing a rash if you take Amoxicillin and Allopurinol together. It does not appear to occur often enough nor is it serious enough to warrant a change. If you are on Allopurinol and have to be on Amoxicillin for an infection, you can be monitored for a rash. Yes.: Lowering uric acid too quickly can cause gout attacks. I usually have patients start with Colchicine 0.6 2x/day, and an antiimflammatory nsaid, such as Meloxicam 15mg. I have patients take these two days before starting allopurinol. I usually drop the Colchicine to one a day after several weeks. Can lower, or diminish the use of nsaids. ...Read more
