Severe allergy to sulfa drugs as child. Have taken Imitrex and hctz for years off and on w no prob. Would I be ok taking celebrex (celecoxib)?
Probably: Although the sulfur molecule is in Celebrex (celecoxib), (celecoxib) only a few people with allergies to sulfa antibiotics also react to Celebrex (celecoxib). The allergy appears to be related to a special form of sulfur at the molecular level. This form isn't present in non-antibacterial meds with sulfur in them.
