Im 17 f got steroid shot for iliopsoas tendonitis 5 weeks ago. 35% better. Still can't sit comfortably. Should i consider a 2nd shot? Any side effects?
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
Had a severe psychiatric response to a steroid shot yrs ago (have had mild ones to Cipro as well). Is a 4mg,6 day, tapering dose of Methylprednisolone be likely to cause the same? Or any of the side effects for that matter?
Potentially: If you had a severe response previously to steroid, you sure would not want to try them again. There is the risk with repeat exposures to medications that each reaction could be worse than the previous one. Seek other options. ...Read more
I got a steroid shot yesterday for my allergy reaction. Why is it a steroid, will this need get me buff?
3 types of steroids: Dexamethasone and similar drugs are of the glucocorticoid type of steroid drugs, and has uses in a variety of disorders. It has anti-inflammatory effects and suppresses the immune system's activity (thus treats allergic reactions). Anabolic steroids (type of sex steroids) are abused by some people to increase muscle mass. The third type of steroid are the mineralcorticoids (affects salt balance). ...Read more
2015 Seasonal allergies are awful in NJ and ZyrtecD 5mg isnt helping me AT ALL , should I bother with ClaritinD or seek an allergy 'steroid' shot?
Zyrtec D is stronger than Claritin D.
Generally speaking if Claritin or Allegra are not helping allergists will often ask the patient to double the dose(plain anti-histamine with out the "D"). Flonase will often help nasal symptom. Visine-A will help allergic conjunctivitis. When the above are not helping a short course of corticosteroids can help. For more info go to http://bit.ly/1vIxPUk ...Read more
I had to take a steroid shot yesterday do to allergies and I woke with both my hands feeling like there asleep. Is that a allergic reaction to shot?
I went to the doctor on Friday and was treated for an allergy; a steroid shot, a nasal spray and since then I have ran a steady fever of 100- 100.2.
Perhaps not allergy: Since none of those medications should cause a fever, it's possible the diagnosis was wrong and you actually have a respiratory tract infection. Symptoms are very similar between the two disorders, except fever not usually present with allergies. If not improving in next few days, give doc a call back and let them know that you have fever as well. In meantime, get lots of rest and fluids. ...Read more

Urticaria/angioedema: could be the case, kind of common, mostly no cause can be sorted out, acute types usually follow a viral infection, chronic types mostly have no known cause, could be due to drugs, please keep taking your meds regulary, go to ER if you develop hoarseness / difficulty in breathing, and see an allergist soon, goodluck ...Read more

I got a coricoid steroid shot yesterday and today i woke with a hemrrhoid issue. Never had it before can this be a side effect of shot?
Sciatic pain in both sides for 7 days. We saw family Dr who administered a steroid shot+dose pk. Pain returned. Terrible night. Thoughts?
YES!: My thought is that you need to see your family doctor back. I assume you had a terrible night b/c you had terrible pain. The steroid shot & dose pack may have alleviated your symptoms but didn't get to the root of the matter. If your family doc is reluctant to investigate further, see a neurologist, orthopedist or neurosurgical spine specialist. I wish you the best. ...Read more

Can tight, spasming hip, butt, low back muscles on one side cause leg to hurt? Had steroid shot in butt gave a little relief but still feels crampy
Spasm: Absolutely, spasm can reduce blood flow and cause pain/aching in the leg. Not sure why you had the steroid IM shot though. Consider getting your low back looked at by a chiropractor or a DO who knows how to manipulate. Odds are you have a structural issue somewhere below L2. Soak in a hot bath then do some gentle stretching exercises. ...Read more

Anti-inflammatory;no: Presumably you're referring to a corticosteroid shot rather than an anabolic steroid such as testosterone. Various forms of Prednisone (steroid) can be given as pill or shot, even as cream, all acting as anti-inflammatory to cut down on swelling. However, it doesn't "kill the cause" which is most likely due to either a virus or bacteria. If the latter, need antibiotics. If former, just time. ...Read more
