Allergies Vs Cold Mucus
I have been coughing clear mucus for about a month. No other symptoms. I did have a really bad cold for a couple weeks but this is lingering. Allergy?
Maybe: Since the mucous is clear, infection is unlikely. If you have a history of allergies, then the cough could be allergy-related. Also, it's not uncommon for irritation of the upper respiratory system to persist after the cold has resolved.. Finally, coughing causes irritation & irritation causes more coughing. Humidifying your air and using an OTC cough prep regularly for a few days may help you.See 1 more doctor answer

Clear "mucus" almost like water from my nose pretty consistently only with head tilted forward? No cold or allergies, that i know of! possibilities?
Yes: It may be from fluid collecting in the sinus then drains out when the head tilts at the right direction for the sinus to drain. If you have had a recent head trauma, then it may be a serious condition such as a fracture in the skull area connecting to the nose. You need to get this checked out especially if head trauma is involved.
Septoplast/turbinect 4mth ago-went well. 3weeks ago had cold. Now constant clear, sticky mucus & stuffy. No allergies-skin & blood test. Tried saline?
See doctor: Cold symptoms usually subside after about 10 days. You likely have a sinus infection and need to consult your doctor for treatment.
Maybe: But it could also be a sign of a respiratory infection.
Had a cold a week ago but still coughing up clear thick mucus and having to clear my throat of it also is this allergies or remnants of the cold?
Post viral cough: This is still withing the normal limits of what we expect from a cold. If you already have allergies then it could be contributing to your symptoms but a new onset of allergy is unlikely in this scenario.
Yesterday allergies went crazy with sneezing and sudden faucet nose all night. Today heavy yellow mucus and severe sinus pain. Cold or sinus inf. ?
Always clearing my throat and coughing up clear mucus with white milky patches in it I had a cold 3 weeks ago is it cold or allergies? Merry Christmas
Can clear, sticky mucus in nose be sinus infection? Had septo/turbinectomy 4mths ago. Got a "cold" w/yellow mucus. Now nose stuffy & clear. No allergys
Not infection: This is probably just post infectious inflammation causing mucous production. Sinus infections usually produce colored mucous throughout the day.
My 6 yr old daughter is coughing, sneezing, stuffed nose, mucus looks dark brown. Now she is wheezing ... How can I tell its allergies, cold, asthma ?
If she is wheezing..: ...You need to see your doctor. It could get worse and she could have trouble breathing later. Whether it's allergies or a cold causing it, your doctor can determine. The important thing is to take care of the problem when breathing is involved.
I have a slightly scratchy, sore throat with watery eyes and mild congestion with clear mucus. Is it a cold or allergies?

I get allergies/cold in the end of August every year. It's itchiness in my nose and throat, sneezing bouts, runny nose, mucus. Pollen is low right now?
Molds?: I assume that you live in the Northeast and for that area, ragweed is likely the cause. On the other hand, pollen count reflects only the exposure within a short distance from the counting station and thus may not actually reflect your own exposure. Other possibilities- Mold counts are also high in the fall (b) you may have become allergic to new allergens.

When i blow my noise, blood covered mucus comes out. My noise doesn't feel too sensitive but I do have allergies often. What is it and how can I treat?
The allergies: People with uncontrolled nasal allergies may suffer nosebleeds as would be using nasal steroid for the condition especially when the spray is incorrectly directed towards the center of the nose (nasal septum). However nosebleeds can also occur in the absence of allergy. Consult your doctor to see what is needed for you- allergy treatment vs nasal cauterization.
Yes: The symptoms you describe could certainly be caused by an allergy. However, often with adults the results of testing for allergens will be negative. Treatment will range from anti-histamines to intra-nasal steroids and/or anti-hisamines. The symptoms may also be caused by a sinus infection so seeing your doctor may be necessary and warranted if symptoms persist.See 1 more doctor answer
Is it right that for those who have allergies and are taking antihistamines, the mucus will become thicker?
Depends: First generation antihistamines have some antocholinergic properties that can thicken mucus. Second generation antihistamines not so much. Depends on what medication you are taking.
My nose is blocked only at night time there is no mucus and when I stand up it goes away what could this be? allergies?
Postural/timing: Most symptoms tend to get worse at night when the body starts to wind down to allow you to go asleep. Also lying down cuts off the gravitational advantage from a erect posture and thus adding to the congestion. I suspect however that your nose remains congested most of the time but only noticeably so when you lie down. One other thought- dust mite allergy.See 1 more doctor answer
How is possible that sinuses can produce so much mucus? It doesn't stop no matter what I do. Can it be seasonal allergies? It's thick too
Sick last week/ coughing for 8 days now. Thought it was bad allergies. When I cough it feels like I am trying to cough something up: liquid/mucus?
See doctor: You could have a viral infection which had exacerbated your asthma. The difficulty in coughing up sputum may signal blockage of the airways. On the other hand, one needs to rule out pneumonia too. You need to consult your doctor promptly to get this under control.See 2 more doctor answers
