It depends: If the runny nose is due to allergies, Cetirizine (zyrtec) will most likely help. The medication is an anti- histamine that provides 24 hour allergy relief. However, the runny nose may be a symptom of a common cold. This medication may help in if that is the case, but maybe not. Has the child ever been allergy tested? It's possible.: Unusual to be strep without a sore throat, but possible. Stuffy nose and congested ears go against strep, but there may be more than one process involved such as a virus or allergies plus strep.
