What is the best way to clear ear congestion? Claritin, (loratadine) zyrtec-d, and Neti Pot did not help. I have allergy-like congestion, but can not clear left ear
Maybe steroids: Your eustachian tube may be congested. It might be time to see an ENT for consideration of either nasal steroids or a tapered dose of oral steroids. In the interim you may also consider using afrin nasal spray 2 sprays each nostril twice a day for only three days. Combine this with gently trying to clear your ears by pinching your nose shut gently and blowing against the closed nose. ...Read more
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
I've been getting allergy shots for 2 years. Every other week now. Still really bad. Dry nostrils. Fluid behind ears, but no infection. Spasms/ Clicking. Congestion. Taking allegra (fexofenadine). Any suggestions?
Fluid behind ears:
Fluid behind the ears may be Serous Otitis Media. Recommend you use Clear. Ease Lozenges - one 3x a day, melt in mouth between cheek and gums.
This is a proteolytic enzyme - papase and bromelein that is developed for Scuba Divers and Pilots who have ear blockage. Will also aid your "clicking."

Cough, chest/nose congestion, tired, blocked ears over a week. Taking zyrtec, mucinex, (guaifenesin) advil. Is it cold, allergies, something else?
Non specific: Not sure what the question really is, but if you are talking about upper respiratory tract or head cold symptoms due to infection versus if they are do to allergies, allergic symptoms tend to occur with exposure to kn own or suspected triggers, would not have fever, or sore throat, infections would be more likely to have fever, sore throat, no clear allergic exposure etc. ...Read more
Throat is very very red since a month. No pain. Sometimes ear pain. And I have nasal congestion because of allergies most of the time.
Chronic inflammation: This sounds like chronic inflammation. The lack of pain suggest mild inflammation. Irritants such as allergies or smoking are common causes. Treat your allergies. If it is persistent you should see your doctor. More serious conditions that require a biopsy might be possible. ...Read more
I'm 10w pregnant & I've allergy that keeps getting worse sneezing itching ears & throat congestion & the PA prescribed allegra (fexofenadine)! Is it safe? Daily?
I'm 10w pregnant & I've allergy that keeps getting worse sneezing itching ears & throat congestion & the PA told me I can take allegra (fexofenadine)! Is it safe?
No Allegra (fexofenadine): Claritin (loratadine) and Zyrtec (cetirizine) are pregnancy category B medications which means that animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus. I frequently use these medications with my pregnant patients. Allegra (fexofenadine) is category C so I would avoid this medication and stick with the ones listed above. If concerned, talk to OB/GYN about specific medications. ...Read more
I'm abroad & previously lost voice& stronger allergy meds helped. Now have sore throat, chest congestion, and itchy ear. Do I have allergies or a cold?
? Both: Allergies can be superimposed by infections, especially viral infections, can give same symptoms as having colds, trust there are drug stores where you currently are, saline nasal washes, salt water gargles, plenty of fluids and rest as much as you can will definitely help, allergy meds with decongestants, unless hypertensive, taken regularly would help too, antibiotics later if those measures fail ...Read more

Viral, bacterial, allergy? I ate spicy food & got runny nose. Day 2 nasal congestion/headache/ear pressure. Then a dry cough gets worse on waking up!
Spicy food rhinitis: People often get running noses from eating spicy foods. Others might sweat. The spicy food can cause a mild reaction to the nose causing it to swell a little. This is the congestion. The spicy food can also cause more reflux which would irritate the throat which could cause you to cough. I hope this helps. I'm good health. ...Read more
I don't have a sore throat but I did recently have nasal congestion due to allergies. The congestion is gone but my ear hurts a lot when I swallow.
See Allergist: In patients with poorly controlled allergic rhinitis, symptoms can often manifest as ear fullness or pain. How long does it take for side effects from fluticasone to subside after u discontinue use. I have used it a month or so and experience ear congestion?
Side effects: If this is strictly a side effect of the medication, I would hope that as the medication comes out of your system, the effects will go away as well. The half life of the medication is 11-12hrs. So five half lifes before it is more or less out of your system, so roughly 60 hours, I would say fluticasone is out of your system. If there is some suppression on the adrenal axis, this may take more time ...Read more
