Allergic rhinitis presents with a variety of symptoms including congestion, running, itching (eyes and nose), and post-nasal drip that can be seasonal or year round. Triggers can be allergic (animal dander, pollen, dust mites) or non-allergic (strong scents/odors, cleaning products, weather changes). How do you determine if a dry cough is caused by GERD vs allergies or asthma? No other symptoms besides a lingering dry cough and I feel a lil post na
Response to therapy: Assuming that you have narrowed the cause of your cough down to these things, it all depends on your response to medical therapy and avoidance of triggers. Your doctor could help with a trial of an inhaler like albuterol and you could also try medicines that are available over the counter for GERD and allergies. If you respond to symptomatic care, that may be al that you need. Also consider URIs. ...Read more

Quit smoking: Your symptoms are all coming from your smoking habit. So it's important to work with your pcp to find other alternatives to stop smoking, and keep your lungs clear. The allergies and eye symptoms may "encourage" the tics to continue because the symptoms make him sense that there is some discomfort in the eyes. Some doctors check for strep throat when a child has new tics with cold/allergy/throat symptoms. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
