I constantly have dry mouth. Is this due to allergies?

I constantly have dry mouth. Is this due to allergies?

Maybe.: Dry mouth may be due to several causes. (1) dehydration - think diabetes. (2) medication side-effects - medications for hives, for sleep, for irritable bowel syndrome often cause mucous membranes dryness. (3) mouth-breathing - think allergy, nasal obstruction, sleep apnea. Your health care professional should be able to help you sort this out. Napoleon dynamite is a chronic mouth-breather.

What allergy medication should I take to avoid dry mouth?

What allergy medication should I take to avoid dry mouth?

Newer generation: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is going to cause the most issues with dry mouth. Newer antihistamines (allegra, zyrtec, and even claritin) are going to cause less. Anthistamine nasal sprays (astelin, astepro, pantanase) are the best option (rx only) to avoid systemic side effects (drowsiness, dry mouth, etc.).

Hydrate: With warmer weather, your fluid requirements increase. With a hungry baby, you also need plenty of fluids, as you are also losing water in breastmilk. Be sure to drink enough water that your urine comes out a pale lemon yellow color. Congratulations on breastfeeding your baby successfully!

Sleep apnea: Would need more information regarding symptoms but it sounds like you might have issues with either poorly controlled allergies (dust mite sensitivity?) and/or sleep apena problems. If you have a history of loud snoring, frequent daytime sleepiness, or other signs of sleep apnea might be worth looking into. Talk to primary doctor

I was treated at ER for bee allergy wonder if that means my bee allergy is getting worse had dry mouth nausea itchy mouth.

It can get worse: Every individual is different but in some cases each time you are stung you could have an increase in symptoms. In other people there is no difference and the symptoms are always the same. You can be tested by an allergist and given an epipen (epinephrine) script. The main symptoms to monitor for is shortness of breathing and the throat tightening down Be careful and if the symptoms seem to increase go ER

Have had bad breath for years, not dry mouth, often have seasonal allergies and post-nasal drip. Could that be causing bad breath? How to treat?

Have had bad breath for years, not dry mouth, often have seasonal allergies and post-nasal drip. Could that be causing bad breath? How to treat?

Halitosis: Bad breath can be caused by many different factors, including sinus infections, periodontal problems, smoking, cavities, acid reflux, and your diet. Address all of these possibilities with your dentist and physician, and I'm confident that your problem will at least be minimized, and hopefully eradicated.

Waking up with dry mouth, mucus in throat and blocked nose. Allergy related?

Waking up with dry mouth, mucus in throat and blocked nose. Allergy related?

A viral infection: Your question suggests that the problem is of very recent onset and thus more likely from a viral infection. If this has been a chronic issue, then one would need to consider an allergic basis. Allergy is often associated with itching but a cold is not. Also fever is not present in allergy.

Can allergies make you have dry mouth, throat, nose and eyes?? feeling like am dehydrated. Can benedryl make me feel better or worse dry me up more?

Can allergies make you have dry mouth, throat, nose and eyes?? feeling like am dehydrated. Can benedryl make me feel better or worse dry me up more?

Yes: Allergies may cause dry mouth, throat, nose, and eyes. However, one more common side effect of Benadryl is drying of those areas. Benadryl may still be used safely to treat symptoms of allergies, but be sure to follow dosing directions exactly as they appear on the package labeling and to stay well hydrated throughout the day, as you admitted dehydration’s an issue.

Which drugs cause dry mouth?

Many: The list of medications that cause dry mouth is very long and growing so I cannot list them all. The most important thing to do is take steps to avoid the damage to your teeth that dry mouth can do. Avoid sugary and highly acidic foods and drinks. See your dentist regularly.
