Several options: Sorry to hear about the symptoms. Vaseline is rarely a great option for lip therapy. On the other hand, non-petroleum based moisturizers can help, in addition to antihistamines that may reduce the soreness/swelling. I like vanicream or cetaphil as moisturizers, and for antihistamines I like the non-drowsy options -- Allegra (fexofenadine) is a good choice, and it can last for 12-24 hours depending on the dose. ...Read more

Pressure on wound: Put a small bandaid on it and if is still bleeding in the morning then see your doctor.If it is bleeding a lot then go to the er to get it to stop. Cover it with pressure and keep pressure for at least 20 minutes then keep bandaid and slowly remove it gently more pressure should get the bleeding to stop. Couple things: It's very unusual to be allergic to petrolatum jelly, though it is occlusive and cause itching. Many people are allergic to lip balms of all kinds. But that causes allergic contact dermatitis; e.g. swelling, redness, then peeling over days...usually not "hives", meaning urticaria, that comes and goes over hours.
