How does a person w chronic hives tell if they r having allergic reaction? I saw a couple mild hives after tylenol, (acetaminophen) but I get hives without pills too.

Timing is important: Urticaria caused by allergy to medications occur often minutes after exposure to the offending drug, so time of onset is very important. If you suspect an allergy to tylenol, (acetaminophen) although uncommon, your best bet is to consult with an allergist or a dermatologist. ...Read more

I'm on prednisone for an allergic reaction to something unknown. I also have chronic leg pain. What is safe to take besides Tylenol?

NSAID is ok: You may also try NSAID with the understanding that your stomach will more likely to get upset because of the prednisone. Taking OTC antacid medication may help reduce the side effects. There are also topical (Rx) NSAID available as well. I am puzzled as to what kind of allergic reaction you are taking prednisone for. ...Read more

Should I take tylenol (acetaminophen) pm or simply sleep for allergies?

Should I take tylenol (acetaminophen) pm or simply sleep for allergies?

Sure: Tylenol (acetaminophen) pm contains tylenol (acetaminophen) which may not be needed to get to sleep or allergies but probably isn't harmful unless using other tylenol (acetaminophen) throughout the day. Diphenhydramine (main ingredient in many of the medications) makes people very sleep, particularly wen not used everyday so as far as overall allergy medication, as long as not having hangover in day can be quite effective. ...Read more

Hi doctor, it's late at night and I am suffering from my allergies that seems like it's turning into a cold, is it safe for me to take Tylenol (acetaminophen) sinus?

Better not: The available tylenol (acetaminophen) sinus is the daytime, which might not help you sleep, besides if you have blood pressure problems it's not advised. Plain tylenol (acetaminophen) and Benadryl are better alternative, read the labels carefully and don't exceed recommended dosage, best wishes ...Read more

4 yr old has fever from allergies. Takin Zyrtec Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin. Why is her heart rate so fast and should I b concerned. Appetite is normal?

Fever is not from: Allergies. She probably has a viral illness. The increased heart rate is most likely from the fever & is a normal occurrence. Help please? What is the chance of a severe skin reaction to tylenol (acetaminophen)?

Reaction to tylenol (acetaminophen): Allergic reactions can occur with any medication, even those that are over the counter like tylenol (acetaminophen). While I am not sure what the exact percentages are for a medication like tylenol (acetaminophen), it is possible to have an skin outbreak with it. I would look at when you took the medication and when the reaction happened. Also was this the first time you took the medication?
Hope this helps. ...Read more

What happens if you take tylenol (acetaminophen) and Advil same day - allergy reaction?

What happens if you take tylenol (acetaminophen) and Advil same day - allergy reaction?

No relationship: Advil (ibuprofen) allergy is relatively common; tylenol (acetaminophen) allergy is rare. These two drugs are chemically unrelated so you can't be allergic to both. Also taking both drugs on the same day does not increase your chance of a reaction to one or the other. Stop taking Ibuprofen & use only Acetaminophen until you see a board-certified allergist for the correct diagnosis. ...Read more

I'm afraid I will develop a severe skin reaction such as steven johnson syndrome. Is it common after taking tylenol (acetaminophen)?

Am 8 weeks pregnant and been having tooth pain. I have a reaction to tylenol (acetaminophen). I know you can only take that durning pregnancy but what else is there?

See a dentist: Being pregnant doesn't mean you should not receive dental care. Routine care (not including routine x rays) can be continued during pregnancy. Emergency care for pain relief should rendered. It's more stressful and harmful for the mom & fetus to be in pain, than to undergo a dental procedure. ...Read more

Aspirin-intolerance?: I presume that you either have nasal congestion/asthma or an anaphylactic reaction to NSIDS in general. The reactions are not considered primarily a histamine-mediated one. Tylenol or Cox-2 inhibitors should be tolerated. If Benadryl helps your symptoms, you should consult an allergist to find out what can be done to make you feel better. ...Read more

Taking Tylenol regularity but never more than the recommended dose for last few weeks. Social drinker. I'm worried about l have liver damage. Symptoms?

See your doctor.: Initially, there are no symptoms to the kind of damage that Tylenol can do to the liver. Although you are likely to have not done any damage to the liver if you followed the directions, it would be prudent to get some blood drawn to be sure. It is a simple blood test. If you are worried, I would try to limit Tylenol and avoid alcohol until you have the blood test. Good luck. ...Read more
