Allergic reaction to laundry detergent. I have a terrible rash and can't sleep. I get severe akathisia from antihistamines. What else can I take?

Detergent reaction: You can try OTC topical hydrocortisone 1% cream. Akathesia, although very rare, may occur with first generation antihistamines as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) , hopefully not the case with the newer less sedating as loratadine or desloratadine, as for your akathesia vs RLS, I believe you need to see an experienced neurologist for assessment, best wishes ...Read more

See a doctor: Either a dermatologist or gynecologist should be able to determine what kind of reaction you are having. It does sound like it could be an allergic reaction or contact dermatitis. You can start by changing your laundry detergent and body soap. Take a look at what you are taking- drugs like advil (ibuprofen) can cause rashes. ...Read more

Dry skin: In the winter months, the first thing I consider would be dry skin. Try using unscented soap and apply a skin moisturizer all over within 3 minutes after bathing to see it this helps . It may take a few days for the skin to calm down. If problem persists, then need to consult a dermatologist or allergist. ...Read more

Burnig/itchy hives upper body/face x6days in row. Come ad go w/ benadryl (diphenhydramine). No allergies/new foods/detergent ect. Symptom of something else serious?

Possibly: The fact that it is new onset, responds to benadryl, (diphenhydramine) and has sx limited to what you mention still point to some type of allergy to a food/ air borne pollen in bloom. Ask your doctor to use a stronger tx than just Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and if it persists to do an allergy work up. Also make sure you have not been exposed to mites/fleas, bed bugs, etc. ...Read more
