Depends: Bp's function is to kill bacteria, dry & exfoliate the skin--so some irritation & reddness can be expected--it comes in 2 concentrations over the counter: 5% & 10% (5 harder to find, can "thin" w/skin lotion). If that solves it--then not allergy. If really itchy / any hives, reddness spreads beyond just where applied--could be allergic. ...Read more

Maybe: Benzoyl peroxide can be harsh on the skin. Some people are sensitive and need to use other products b/c it turns their skin red and makes it dry. In your case it sounds like irritant contact dermatitis, a form of allergic reaction to the medication. Stop using it. See your dermatologist for alternative medications. ...Read more
