Could an allergic reaction cause a rash all over my body?

Could an allergic reaction cause a rash all over my body?

Absolutely.: Certain rashes are definitely not related to allergies; diagnosis starts with the appearance. This is where a knowledgeable, experienced diagnostician is key. Many viruses do, too, and some are quite itchy. So do medications, too, and continuing to take the drug may be risky. Better get checked out. ...Read more

My wife seems to be having a bad allergic reaction. She has rashes all over her body and is itching badly. What is the best way to alleviate this?

Stop the offending: cause if known. Also reasonable to take short acting antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or longer acting ones like Claritin or Zyrtec. If the rash is severe enough and/or the itching is not alleviated than over the counter steroid creams may be beneficial. Of course if symptoms do not improve or worsen a trip to the doctor may be in order for a definitive diagnosis and/or stronger prescriptions. ...Read more

?seen and diagnosed?: Hives at that age can be triggered by foods, food additives, bug bites and illnesses. If foods or food additives, the trigger must be removed before improvement. My daughter has a rash all over the top of her body which looks like an allergic reaction but dr said it's roseola but she didn't have high fevers

Possible: Sometimes roseola rash can look like macular patches and spots and can be mistaken for allergies.
High fever is common but not always seen.
If it disappears in 2-3 days with no anti-histaminic medications, it is likely to be roseola.

I have a rash all over my body from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic I was taking, can I still lay in a tanning bed?

Take a break!: I would not advise it at this time as your body is in the midst of a battle against the antibiotic. Your immune system is on high alert and the UV lights may cause the rash to increase. Secondly, much as our culture loves tan skin as a sign of good health it's an incredible health hazard - leads to premature skin aging, wrinkles and sometimes cancer. http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/skin/basic_info/indoor_tanning.htm ...Read more

My daughter came in the house from playing and i noticed a rash all over her face only red on her cheeks is this a allergic reaction to something?

Probably not: If the rash did not itch and went away within a hour , it was unlikely to be from an allergic reaction. I suspect that she is very light complexioned and may be more prone to develop rosacea in the future. Let me know whether I am correct or not since we do need feedback to enhance our own learning experience. ...Read more

5 months old has rash all over dr said looks like allergic reaction to prevacid, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) hasnt done anything. Is rash really a reaction or a virus?
