My five month old only will eat when he drowsy or sleep he has been on reflux medication for awhile and he doesn't have big appetite what could it be?
Normal feeding?: You mention reflux medication and I see on the profile "hydrochlorothiazide." I assume that's your medication and not your baby's. If he is breastfeeding or formula feeding well and is gaining weight, then there is no concern. I was not clear from your question if you meant he was not having a big appetite for solids or for his milk? ...Read more

When I take a medication that causes drowsiness it gives me severe panic attacks and I can't control it enough to calm it down. How do I prevent this?
Panic disorder?: I've known many anxious people who are afraid to fall asleep. They are hypervigilant for fear that something dreadful will happen. Many such people are dealing with previous trauma issues, and also the need to be "in control" at all times. The best help for this is seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist for good assessment -- plus receiving individual treatment, including medications if needed. ...Read more
What medications for depression /anxiety don't make you drowsy. I have tried a lot but the make me feel sick and tired. Its been hard finding one that I can follow through.?
Several: It would be great to know what meds you take in order to better understand the situation. First of all, you should be talking with the doctor who prescribed your medication about your concern. Secondly, depression & anxiety are very different things. I treat major depression first, then the anxiety. Finally, wellbutrin is a non-sedating antidepressant and Buspar (buspirone) is minimally sedating for anxiety. ...Read more

Is there any allergy medications (anti-histamines) that are not hard on the liver? And possibly do not cause drowsiness?
Do histamines (not antihistamine medications) make you drowsy? Antihistamines (no decongestants added) seem to make me more alert when allergies flare
Yes: Histamine is a substance released during an allergic attack and can cause drowsiness. Some of the older generation anti-histamine agents (like benedryl) can cause drowsiness because they can pass the "blood brain" barrier and cause a direct effect on thinking. In rare cases in adults, antihistamines can cause agitation. ...Read more

What's a GOOD nausea/vomiting medication I could take besides Ondansetron? That won't make me drowsy. I take Ondansetron but it doesn't seem to help.
Look harder: Nausea/vomiting may be gi-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary & pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems). Consider "central" causes: motion sickness, vertigo, migraine headache, brain problems (some very serious). Also, rule out infection (? Urinary tract), medication side effects, pregnancy, & even reaction to stress. Find & treat cause. ...Read more

Are there any muscle relaxant medications that do not cause drowsiness or tummy upset? For back pain, thanks
I'm afraid not: Tizanidine is the least likely to cause drowsiness (50% of people taking it get sleepy). The trade-off is that it's less proven to help acute back pain than cyclobenzaprine which seems to make almost everyone drowsy. Baclofen is just as bad. I usually recommend cyclobenzaprine at the 5mg dose taken just at bedtime for those who find it overly sedating during the day. Usually short-term use only ...Read more
