Not usually: Urine is made from water and waste products the blood stream delivers to the kidneys. In effect, the kidneys are giant filters, but the blood vessels pass through microscopic structures which do the filtering. The blood vessels and urine vessels do not mix; there is a thin layer of cells which separate the two, but allow the transfer of waste chemicals in the blood into the urine. ...Read more
My blood and urine test result are worrying me. it shows high Uric acid levels and traces of blood in urine.
See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, uric acid levels in urine are not meaningful, it is the blood level that counts. A few red cells in urine are not abnormal, and trace may be the same. It would be prudent to discuss the issue with your doctor who ordered the tests. ...Read more

Maple : Maple syrup urine disease is an inherited disorder of metabolism where people are unable to break down the branched-chain amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine. These are the three Amino Acids that build-up in high levels in the blood. The exact numbers for abnormal levels depend completely on the lab running the test. In one lab, anything over 10 might be abnormal where in another lab anything over 150 would be abnormal depending on how they run the test and the units used for each value. The exact numbers are not important - just knowing which Amino Acids are too high is the goal. ...Read more

Won't help much: Some of these 'cleanses' list their ingredients, and others don't, but they all involve drinking something weird that will make you somewhat sick so you believe it's working. These folks don't really claim to help you beat drug tests, but use weasel-language to suggest their stuff might help. The products actually offer no benefit that a clean, healthy lifestyle doesn't. ...Read more
What is the most likely cause of protein and ketones in urine, egfr of 78%, negative cultures and normal blood results.
How much?: Miss a meal and you'll have +1 ketones in your urine. Many people have trace proteinuria and this is okay. You may also have orthostatic proteinuria caused by standing up -- some people are like this -- and this is easily ruled in or out by checking your first-voided urine in the morning. Forget "most likely"; you do need to have the cause found. Best wishes. ...Read more

What changes in blood volume, blood potassium, urine volume and urine sodium would turn on the raa system?
RAAS turn ons: The renin angiotensin aldosterone system is designed to maintain blood volume. It is turned on when there are actual fluid deficits, such as vomiting or dehydration, or deficits perceived by the kidney as those patients with congestive heart failure. Are these bad results in my urine test or no?
URINE EPITHELIAL CELLS-None seen
BACTERIA IN URINE-Few
Not really: In a normal urine, there shouldn't be any epithelial cells. Trauma or infection can cause them to be present. Few bacteria are not necessarily a bad sign. There is a condition called asymptomatic bactiuria (which just means bacteria in the urine without there being an infection). I'm not very concerned about the mucus. This should all be correlated with your symptoms of course. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
