Saliva cortisol is only helpful in diagnosing excess cortisol, not adrenal insufficiency. Avoid sleeping pills: We do not normally measure adrenaline. If symptoms are of anxiety (fear, panic, tremor, sweating, fast heart, etc) and insomnia then there are lots of treatments, including amitriptyline.
