Upper end of normal: The level is above the upper limit for normal but not by much. All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and you should discuss it with your doctor and see this site for info. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003470.htm. ...Read more

Yes: This is not only possible but commonplace. I believe we've met. Cirrhosis is a chaotic system and labs fluctuate based on activity (damage / healing). We're not going to know for certain, but if we could talk to your liver, i'd bet he would tell you he's regenerated a huge number of cells which is why he's working better and has more total cells though still bearing injury. Be glad. ...Read more

Lab variation: This is usually not alarming. It is usually considered lab variation. If so, then they sometimes re-order at a future date to see if it indicates a certain directional trend. ...Read more

No reason.: There are ranges of "normal" for each blood test done. These may be different from one lab to other, depending on the type testing done and reliability of lab. Also, if a specific test is very abnormal and doesn't make sense clinically to the doc, it's probably lab error: just repeat it. That being said, low levels on many tests are not a problem: alk phosphatase is one. 'fagetabatit'-:). ...Read more

Microcytosis=MCV<80: The good news is that you have normal Hgb and Hct so are not anemic at this time. When mcv and mch are low, it suggests that to maintain a normal Hct and Hbg, your body has compensated by making more rbc (high rbc) that are slightly smaller (low mcv and mch). Most common cause would be mild iron deficiency or thalassemia, but increased rbc can also be related to elevation. ...Read more
