Alka Seltzer Flu
7th day now- have cold & low temp - severe cough - now no voice - been taking alka seltzer severe flu - don't wanna over react - wait or go to dr?
Follow up: Over the counter medications are not very effective. I would recommend relieving congestion with nasal saline, keeping well hydrated and taking a tsp of honey. If your cough is severe, a follow up is recommended. If there is difficulty breathing /high fever, please see your physician. Most uncomplicated viral illnesses clear up in two weeks. Virtual appt can be made.
I'm 16 weeks pregnant and took very very little alka seltzer cold & flu severe, (does not have asprin) can anything happen to my baby?
No: Your digestive system took care of it.
I am not aware: Of any minimal age to purchase this product.
Multiple medications: Before you start treating yourself, you must have a diagnosis in mind. Do you think you have the flu? If so, none of the items you are taking offer any effective treatment for it. They are a little bit like chicken soup, they may not help you and they cannot hurt you. If you have phlegm that is greenish in color, see a physician for antibiotics. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Is my baby ok if I took nyquil for cold and flu. I took nyquil and I'm 25 weeks. Is my baby gonna be ok. I only took it once. I also took alka seltzer
Should be fine: The components of these meds have little effect on your baby at this point if ever. Please ask your OB for a list of common otc products you can use for minor ailments should you need them going forward.
I have the flu and took alka-seltzer plus night severe cold & flu (1 fast relief mix in packets) about 5 mins ago. I breastfeed. Is it safe to nurse?
Should I wait more than one day to breastfeed after taking alka-seltzer plus multi-symptom cold This also contains aspirin for fever, any suggestions?
NO: Alka-seltzer contains Aspirin which should not be used in pregnancy. There are some older forms of alka-seltzer that may not contain Aspirin (acetysalicilic acid) which may be ok. You would be best using a tylenol (acetaminophen) flu type produce as acetominophen is safe to use in pregnancy.See 1 more doctor answer
Flu treatment: If you're taking tamiflu (oseltamivir) for an influenza infection, it should be OK to take alka-seltzer for symptom relief. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) targets the virus directly, while alka-seltzer helps with the symptoms. This product contains a combination of sodium bicarbonate, aspirin, and citric acid-so some relief from flu like symptoms might be obtained. Good to eat chicken soup, other fluids, and REST to fight off the flu
Ok except: Alka seltzer contains aspirin, so it should be avoided by those people with Aspirin allergy. Otherwise, alka seltzer at usual doses is well tolerated by those who have environmental allergies.
UTI and Alka Seltzer: In a single word "no". Antibiotics are used to treat the bacteria that cause uti's and alka seltzer is not an antibiotic. As it may cause the urine to be less acidic, making easier for bacteria to multiply in the bladder, do not use it to treat a uti. See a doctor and have her prescribe the appropriate antibiotic after a urine is sent off to be cultured.
Xanax (alprazolam): As prescribed, but usually at least half hour after alka seltzer.
Is it okay if I have a beer a few hours after taking Alka Seltzer Plus? What are your recommendations there?
May be: It depends on the condition of your stomach and any other condition you might have. Generally there is no immediate risk of doing that cautiously.
I take one Alka Seltzer tablet every night to help me sleep. Are there any health concerns that I should be aware of?
