Diagnosed with giardia and given Alinia 2xday for 6 days. Two+ weeks after treatment, no change in symptoms. Told it could take months. True?
Giardia: Did you just have giardia or possibly something else as well like cryptosporidium or cyclosporidium(bactrim) amebiasis ( Flagyl) ? Flagyl can also work for giardia. Would also consider concurrent probiotic so as to replenish with normal bacteria as the microbiome in te gut is disrupted. Consider second opinion by GI doc , or by GI doc on Healthtap prime ...Read more
Took alinia 2x day for 7 days and zegerid for 5 days. Developed a mild body tremor Off alinia 5 days and zegerid 3 still tremor. Coincidence or normal?
Difficult to say: well, first, there's the underlying condition. Nausea/vomiting from gastrointestinal conditions WILL produce tremor (can be from serious electrolyte/salt imbalance requiring treatment). Although tremor is NEVER mentioned under side effects of nitazoxanide, since it acts on nerves of germ/parasite....there's a small theoretical possibility. ...Read more

On alinia for diverticulitis. Was constipated. Dr put on miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily for 2 wks. It is causing loose stools. Should I take half dose of mirilax?
Dr gave me Alinia and Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for diverticulitis.Up all night insomnia ,nausea, jittery, leg pain.
Had Ciff 2 months ago. Is Augmentin worse than Alinia?
Not sure if you mean: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) worse than Alinia in side effects? Both give you gastrointestinal upset symptoms, but jitteriness and insomnia should not be attributed to antibiotics. Unless the GI upset symptoms (nausea/ diarrhea/ etc.) are keeping you up. Make sure you drink LOTS of water/fluids to replace the volume lost since dehydration is the #1 cause of side effects while on antibiotics. ...Read more

Why is my semen yellow? It doesn't smells bad nor hurts, and the consistency is normal. I blame that I am under a Nitazoxanide treatment, but Idk.
Here are some...: Taking Nitazoxanide may discolor urine so it likely discolors semen as well. Further confirmation could be established after its timely use is completed and over. Clinically, seminal discoloration usually carries no harmful effects onto health. Since you need to use Nitazoxanide, you probably require more intense practice of healthy lifestyle without overindulgence & obsession than others. ...Read more
