4 wks ago I started logging food to lose weight (mostly limiting sugar/alcohol). Stools have become loose, small and frequent (3x/day). Is that bad?
Probably not: The kind of dietary changes you have made could be expected to result in changes in your bowel movements. More frequent, smaller stools would be common. As part of your healthier eating, be sure to include raw fruits and vegetables, increasing fiber/bulk, resulting in firmer stool. Eating like this may result in multiple stools daily which is normal. If not quickly back to normal, a primary care doctor can evaluate to see what the problem might be. ...Read more

Could alcohol and a bunch of junk food (excessive oreos, and other junk food) cause dark stools the next day? Normal consistency, just very dark?
Yes: Drinking alot of alcohol can cause an inflammation and even a bleed in the stomach. The stomach acid turns the blood black and can darken the color of the stool as it moves along the entire digestive tract. The stool can be tested for blood the next time you see such a stool. I dont think it was the oreos. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My stools are loose, light tan/yellowish and smell like alcohol and I haven't consumed alcohol recently. What could cause this and do I need to worry?
How Dry You Were: Well, my boy, you've just turned into your own personal distillery! Really. That's what goes on in those intestines (amongst other things): fermentation of the foods ingested. You may be on to something: eat a bunch of malted barley and hops and see what comes out. Or, of course, you may have a minor upset in there that will clear if you change your diet. If it gets worse, see your doctor. ...Read more
