Can the common cold cause heartburn?Paracetamol?Herbal tea with honey?I have bad heartburn and have taking paracetamol every 8 hours and drinking tea.
Unlikely.: I have not seen the common cold cause heartburn. I have seen tea, including herbal teas, cause such symptoms, especially in those who already require acid reduction. More importantly, please be cautious about your use of paracetamol, or as it is more commonly known in the USA, acetaminophen, Tylenol. The recommended daily limit is 2 grams, or 2000 milligrams. It is easy to exceed this safe limit! ...Read more

Bad rxn lasting over 24 hours after drinking coffee. Symptoms: severe nausea, stomach pain, dizziness. How do I treat this?
Heartburn after having stomach flu, no vomiting only diarrhea, fever and aches. Tums (calcium carbonate) and organic vinager don't help. What would help the heartburn?
Try an H2 blocker: Some people develop heartburn after a stomach flu even without vomiting, because the stomach flu may have caused gastroesophageal reflux, and irritation to the esophagus. I suggest try famotidine 20mg twice a day or ranitidine 150mg twice a day, both are over the counter. In addition, avoid alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, large meals, and fatty meals. Also, Gaviscon tabs are a wonderful antacid. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

There is evidence that when taken with standard anti-nausea medications, ginger may be helpful in further reducing or eliminating nausea and vomiting during and after chemotherapy treatments: Results from two studies of adults who took ginger for nausea showed that various doses of ginger before starting chemotherapy treatments helped to reduce the severity of nausea. In these studies, participants began taking ginger orally three days prior to starting chemotherapy. The ginger was taken in addition to a standard medication prescribed to reduce nausea and vomiting. A small number of participants reported side effects including heartburn, bruising, flushing and rash. In another study, taking ginger root powder was found to be effective in reducing the severity of chemotherapy-induced nausea in children and young adults ages 8 to 21. Ginger in this study was also given along with standard anti-nausea medications. Earlier studies had shown ginger to be of little or no benefit in reducing nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy. Many prescription drugs have been proved effective at controlling nausea during and after chemotherapy. Ask your doctor if combining ginger and anti-nausea medications might be right for you.
