Yes: One of the reasons benzodiazepines are dangerous for long-term use is the significant spectrum of withdrawal effects, some of which can be potentially life-threatening. This is why these drugs need to be gradually discontinued. Even with gradual withdrawal, if a patient has been on them daily for over 3 weeks, withdrawals can be serious. Seek the advice of your physician to treat these symptoms. ...Read more

Can abruptly stopping 45mg/day of adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) cause heightened all-over-body-pain? Already suffer w/ back pain, has worsened. Weird extreme pain in knee.

Can abruptly stopping 45mg/day of adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) cause heightened all-over-body-pain? Already suffer w/ back pain, has worsened. Weird extreme pain in knee.

No: If you are taking Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) for legitimate reasons, stopping abruptly should not cause medical problems. Many people take stimulant meds for ADD as needed eg, for work or school with "vacation days" off the med for summer or days less concentration is required. Physical pain is not associated with stopping Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). See your pcp for back and knee pain for proper diagnosis and guidance. Best wishes. ...Read more

Can taking .5mg of ativan (lorazepam) @ bedtime for 1.5 weeks cause anxiety/withdrawl symptoms when stopped. Prior addiction issues. Uncontrolled anxiety issues.

Yes, but this is: not the usual case. Benzo addiction usually takes two weeks or longer of continuous use, and even then, many patients do not suffer withdrawal symptoms, especially rebounding. Sensitive people can develop tolerance and/or dependence sooner, but I'm not sure if a history of addiction is predictive. Visit your prescribing MD for a less abrupt withdrawal protocol. ...Read more

Is there any antipsychotic without many side effects? Fear withdrawals too. Insomnia akathisia muscle weakness joint pain all present previous antipsy

Antipsychotic: withdrawal is hardly ever brought up when new agents hit the market, but one sees it with all the atypicals. Some. lets say, are worse than others but the symptoms typically abate within a week or so. I'm going to research this a bit further over the weekend, This is a great question. ...Read more
