See your doc!: Sounds like you may be drinking a bit too much. But it may also be an allergic reaction, or some problem with your kidneys. Alcohol can give you a great high, but the downward plunge afterwards can be devastating! you can experiment by avoiding alcohol for a couple of weeks and see if the symptoms fade. I'm Asian and i take Pepcid (famotidine) before i drink alcohol to reduce redness/flushness. If I do this 2-3x/week for several years, are there long term effects?

Stop the alcohol: You may be allergic to something that is touching your eyelids (new nail polish, perfume, makeup) if your family or you has a history of hayfever, asthma, allergies or ezcema-it could be ezcema. You need to see a dermatologist. Until then stop all makeup, nailpolish, perfume. An otc jydrocortisone ointment 1% may help till then. ...Read more

Sorry: Once a gout attack is triggered, it is difficult to stop. High uric acid levels do not correlate perfectly with risk of experiencing a gouty joint.
