Alcohol And Vyvanse
What is the link between alcohol dependence and Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) (and similar medications)?
I've been taking 75mg of Effexor, (venlafaxine) and a mild dose of Vyvanse. I understand that alcohol is not a good mix, but what can I do if I plan on drinking?
Plan for trouble: I think you mean 'hear' by 'understand' - if you really comprehended, you'd know that even mixing your meds is a risk for serotonin syndrome. I know, it's low doses and you're maybe a big guy. Yeah, yeah. So, if you plan to take yet more risk - don't drive or do anything that requires being clear headed and warn people w/ you how to get you to medical care if you have chest pain, rapid pulse, etc. ...Read more
No, not directly.: Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) can increase some digestive and metabolic processes, but it is not likely to have a significant effect on the blood alcohol level. Due to enhanced alertness, some may feel less impaired/sedated by the effects of alcohol, but this is illusionary -- excessive alcohol intake will be just as problematic. In fact, it may be worse since the vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) may impart a sense of misplaced confidence. ...Read more

What to do if I'm 19, I have been taking Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) for 3 years. 75mg. I took one about 2 hours ago. Is there any side effects while drinking alcohol?
How long should I wait to drink alcohol after I take 30mg of vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine)? I took my daily 30mg dose of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) at 11:30am this morning.
Within reason: Hi. Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) has the potential for dependence and abuse. I assume you're using it for a valid purpose under the direction of your doctor. Alcohol of course also has the potential for dependence and abuse. One being a stimulant and the other being a depressant, they are safe together as long as not done in excess. I suggest you not drive at all. Good luck! ...Read more
Many: You can look up the side-effects to drugs on the internet. Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is a stimulant medication and actually has too many side effects to even begin to list them all here. Feeling jittery and hyper is not unusual with vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). Addiction also. ...Read more

Your question is not very clear however, I am going to guess that you are worried about the side effects or addictive elements of stimulants.

Some do, most don't: Some people do get tolerant after a period of time, but most people don't. Some only get a tolerance at the begining, and then when they reach their effective dose they can maintain at that level for a long time. Each person is different and different people have different tolerance and effective levels where the drug works. ...Read more

Over 24 hours: Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is the longest acting oral stimulant; at high enough doses, amphetamine can be detected the next day, although at fairly low concentrations. Still, like with other stimulants, it seems to be effective only on days taken. There is not evidence of which I'm aware that it accumulates over time--though it might at the highest doses. ...Read more
