Minimal info here: You don't really say enough to be certain - but - if it was a standard OTC like benadryl - and you took the directed amount and you take no other medications and have no other conditions that recommend no alcohol - a minimal to moderate amount should be ok. That means 1 or 2 (at most) w/ some food taken at a pleasant rate. Don't get drunk! That's never a good idea. ...Read more
Husband quit drinking alcohol a month ago and skin itches, keeps him up at night even when taking antihistamine. Related to quitting drinking?
Not expected.: Alcohol usually worsens itching unless one has drunk oneself into a semi-stupor. Not all itching is induced by histamine and thus it may not work at all. Dry skin is the most common cause for itching without a rash, consider applying a moisturizer <3 mins after bathing to see if this helps. Make sure that no new medication or supplement was introduced shortly before the onset of itching. ...Read more

Probably OK: If you have had less than 2 drinks, it is probably ok to take a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) knowing that it may make you more drowsy. 6 shots of alcohol mixed drinks been about 6 hours since last drink is it safe to take a benadryl?
Better choices: Benadryl is sedating and adding that to alcohol magnifies the effect. The average rate of alcohol metabolism is 1 drink per hour, but many things effect that ( male/ female, weight, race, food eaten with it) taking it to sleep is probably ok but for allergies a non sedating antihistamine like Claritin is a better choice. Avoid it altogether if you are driving. Be safe. ...Read more

Check your product: The standard diphenhydramine(benedryl) elixir is 12.5 mg/5ml while the suspension is 25mg/5ml. If you have a 125/5 it would be far too much to give at that weight. If it were the 12.5/5 it would be ok.Available syrup or elixir contain 5-5.6% alcohol. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
