Albumin : Albumin is a protein. In general if our blood level of Albumin is high, it means we have good nutrition. Please be sure that you didn't have too much protein in your urine however, as this can mean that you have kidney disease which is more likely in you since you have diabetes. Please be sure the protein in your urine was not high. ...Read more

Albumin (Definition)

Albumins are proteins which dissolve in water and are not covered with chains of sugars. The most common is serum albumin. These molecules transport other molecules which don't dissolve in water very well. But its main function is to regulate the amount of water in the blood. Another type of Albumin is the ...Read more

I just had some lab work done. What would cause a low serum albumin level, high alpha 1 and 2 and high c-reactive protein and low vit d?

I just had some lab work done. What would cause a low serum albumin level, high alpha 1 and 2 and high c-reactive protein and low vit d?

Likely inflammation: Generally, decreased Albumin and increased globulins are seen in inflammatory conditions, acute or chronic. The fever ; high CRP also support this. Of note, other conditions may cause this including cancer, but still, the most likely explanation is infection/inflammation. A low vitamin d level may be caused by inadequate intake, no sun exposure, absorbtion problem, kidney disease, obesity. ...Read more

What should I eat if HDL cholesterol is slightly low and albumin level is slightly high?

What should I eat if HDL cholesterol is slightly low and albumin level is slightly high?

Eat fish & exercise: Hdl is not predominantly influenced by diet. Hdl is primarily regulated by genetics but can be increased by exercise, omega 3 fatty acids , weight loss and to a small extent wine .The best way to raise your HDL level is by increasing your aerobic exercise to at least 3-5 times a week for at least 20 minutes. Eat fish high in omega 3 fatty acids, epa and dha or take omega 3 capsules. ...Read more

Is it normal to have high albumin levels even if you drink a gallon of water a day and are on a vegetarian diet?

Is it normal to have high albumin levels even if you drink a gallon of water a day and are on a vegetarian diet?

Unlikely: A serum albumin test measures the amount of protein in the clear liquid portion of your blood. Albumin is a protein made by the liver; the test is often used to evaluate liver function, nutritional status and other conditions. Under (not over) hydration would more likely affect albumin; vegetarian diets can/should be completely adequate and not usually associated with low albumin. Hope this helps ...Read more

What does plasma albumin level 54 g/l normal range (35-50) mean? Its high.

High albumin: Have your Albumin rechecked. Dehydration can affect Albumin level by increasing it. Other causes could be tuberculosis, hepatitis and hiv. It can also be seen in congestive heart failure, glucocorticoid excess and congenital disorders. Speak to the physician who ordered the test for more information if you are the patient. ...Read more

They say albumin is indicative of diabetes, but my glucose level is fine. So what does the high albumin mean?

They say albumin is indicative of diabetes, but my glucose level is fine. So what does the high albumin mean?

Albuminuria: Albumin is a very abundant blood protein that we all have. One of the complications of diabetes is kidney disease, and an early sign of diabetic kidney disease is spilling albumin into the urine (normally there is very little albumin in the urine). The blood albumin level is not affected by diabetes unless there is severe kidney disease with a lot of albumin spillage. ...Read more

I have calcium level of 10.3, albumin level of 5.1, is the calcium high? I'm 22

No, it's normal.: The level of calcium in the blood moves up and down with albumin, so your calcium is normal. The albumin level is higher than usual, most likely reflecting mild dehydration. Have a salty meal and drink water and this should correct. ...Read more

Y albumin 3.9 and the normal range for albumin is 4.8 at my lab so it mean that globulin level is high so could it be high because multiple meanloma?

Y albumin 3.9 and the normal range for albumin is 4.8 at my lab so it mean that globulin level is high so could it be high because multiple meanloma?

Not likely: You can not tell that you have increased globulin by Albumin alone, you will need a total protein to see that. 18 year olds very very very rarely have myeloma. This Albumin is not so low, check both labs again and stop worrying. ...Read more

My 14y/o daughter is type1dm. Her microalbumin w/create ratio is high 36.her creatinine and micro albumin are normal levels.is this something to worry?

Unclear question: I understand that your daughter has type I diabetes and she has protein in her urine. If that is correct, it not an urgent matter, but protein in urine portends kidney disease. It can be moderated by better glucose control and medication. It would be prudent to discuss it with your doctor. ...Read more
