See below: For formula see the website listed below. PCR is ratio of total protein to creatinine and ACR is ratio of albumin to creatinine. Albumin is one of the proteins in blood and it is usually the first to leak into urine. http://www.fpnotebook.com/urology/lab/urnprtntcrtnrt.htm ...Read more

Albumin (Definition)

Albumins are proteins which dissolve in water and are not covered with chains of sugars. The most common is serum albumin. These molecules transport other molecules which don't dissolve in water very well. But its main function is to regulate the amount of water in the blood. Another type of Albumin is the ...Read more

Sunil has a albumin creatine ratio of 30.79, is that ok?

Recheck: Normal microalbumin/ creatinine ratio is less than 30 mg / g of creatinine. People with microalbumin / creatinine ratio between 30 -300 is said to have microlabuminuria. Level of 30. 70 is barely above normal. It is always recommended to check microalbumin on 2 sep occasions atleast 6 weeks apart, referably in early mornings. ...Read more

Lab data: These values cannot be interpreted in any meaningful fashion without a full assessment of your clinical condition. The best means of assessing this is to discuss the results with the doctor who ordered the tests and it would specifically help to know why they were ordered. Good luck and best wishes. ...Read more

May get follow-up: This is a way of estimating how much protein is being lost via the kidneys on a spot urine, without using a 24 hour check. This is a wee bit high. If you have diabetes, this might be a reason for a follow-up study; if there's nothing else to suggest kidney disease and you're not diabetic, your physician may simply note it for future reference. ...Read more

Not really but...: There are a number of unanswered questions. Did you have a renal biopsy to come up with the diagnosis of FSGS, or was it diagnosed empirically? I also see that you are on immunosuppressive therapy - what meds besides Cellcept (mycophenolate mofetil)? You're 50, and you have had a cardiac catheterization, which leads me to suspect that you may have a diagnosis of atherosclerotic disease. More details need to be provided. ...Read more

Ratio's: A ratio depends on if one number is higher or lower than the norm so if one is off then, being high or low, will make the ratio be off. Not sure what the norm ratios for the lab u are using are, but usually a Urine MA above 3 is high. ...Read more

What causes high globulin, but low globulin albumin ratio?

What causes high globulin, but low globulin albumin ratio?

Liver blood tests: The liver is an amazing organ- it does many things including making proteins your body needs. Albumin is a major protein product of the liver. Chronic illness can cause that to decline- esp. if you're not eating. Globulins are other proteins usually made to fight diseases like infections- perhaps you've been fighting an illness for a few weeks/months that explain this pattern. ...Read more

What is the normal range for urine albumin/globulin ratio?

No such thing: Serum Albumin globulin ratio may be used, but it is better to look at individual levels of each protein rather than ratios. There is no valid reason to look for Albumin globulin ratio in urine. ...Read more
