Why do basic yoga asanas cause me to have the most vivid and terrifying nightmares I have ever had in my life?
Yoga & dreaming: Yoga allows you to access aspects of your physical experience that you might have ignored up until now -- and with it, possibly triggering sensations that are associated with fearful responses. Other possibilities that your yoga teacher may describe for you, are the idea of energetic awakening, called "kundalini" energy. This can be frightening for some people -- has been for some of my patients. ...Read more
Can the practice of asanas and pranayama cause something like a jarisch-herxheimer reaction...Some kind of detoxification reaction?
No: This is yoga. It won't make you sick if done right, though if you hyperventilate during pranayama you'll feel bad. The real jarisch-herxheimer reaction is to the newly-killed microbes in syphilis. When a charlatan's medicine makes you sick, they'll call it "jh" rather than acknowledge the truth. Dr. Alan ali, fourth day of Lexapro (escitalopram) and have had so many side affects. The newest one is difficulty breathing. Is this a coincidence of something else?
Eye allergy drops: Alaway is safe for long term use as it contains a medication that is an anti-histamine. Visine allergy or any eye-drop that " takes the red away" typically has a decongestant in addition to an anti-histamine. Such eye drops are not designed for daily long term use and can cause rebound redness if abruptly stopped after longer use. The eye drops, due to the decongestant, do have warning for use. ...Read more
Allergy eyes: If you have eye allergy, which I am assuming you do, your symptoms sound more serious than mild allergic conjunctivitis. Some of the prescription eye drops are longer acting and may work better for you. Eczema around the eye can also develop in those with allergic conjunctivitis, which requires additional treatment and great self control in the avoidance of rubbing and scratching. ...Read more

Is patanol (olopatadine) and alaway the same group? I have allergy eyes. Itching, red, dry. Which one to use first or how?
Yes: Alaway & Patanol (olopatadine) are both topical ocular antihistamines. Both useful for itchy, watery eyes once to twice daily. Coincident with ocular allergies is dry eye symptoms, which can be augmented by systemic antihistamine/decongestant treatment.
