What is the typical treatment for a muniscus tear is there surgery involved? What kind of pain medication and how long is recovery?
Hello. : Hello. I don't know the extent of your injury. Often, arthroscopic surgery is done to the knee. This means that the surgery is done internally, without filleting the knee open. Without knowing more about your injury it is hard to say how long the recovery would be. If there is a small tear and that is removed, your recovery time could be four to six weeks. (this doesn't mean you need to lie in bed for four to six weeks; but you wouldn't want to be playing sports). It the doctor only needed to remove loose bodies from the joint space, that recovery might take two to four weeks. It the meniscus requires repair, it could take four months or longer for a full recovery. Often patients are prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Narcotics are often prescribed post operatively to control pain. ...Read more

Is there something natural available to relieve and preferably cure lichen sclerosis? I'm not interested in allopathic drugs.
I'm hoping for something natural to ease the discomfort when my skin tears or gets itchy sours and my dream come true would be so
Unfortunately, : Unfortunately, I am not aware of any natural remedies for lichen sclerosis. Also lichen sclerosis is a diagnosis that needs to be made by a health care professional by doing a biopsy of the area. It is important to make sure that there aren't other potential causes such as vaginal cancer although it is quite uncommon. Lichen sclerosis can be treated with a topical corticosteroid but one that has a stronger potency that the corticosteroids found over the counter at the pharmacy. After treatment for 4-6 weeks you will only need to apply it to the area 1-2 times weekly to maintain the improvement. Vaginal estrogen can help the symptoms too. It is possible that natural remedies such phytoestrogen supplements used for menopause may be helpful but i don't think that has been studied. Clobestasol is the name of the corticosteroid that can be used to treat lichen sclerosis. If you find something natural that works please do post on the bulletin board. ...Read more
Is there any drug to reduce vitreo-retinal traction and adhesion? Can they be used during posterior vitreous detachment to prevent retinal tears?
No: In the absence of retinal inflammation or uveitis, there are no oral or topical drugs which decrease vitreo-retinal traction. If their is inflammation in the eye, the cause of this needs to be discovered and treated appropriately. There is no drug that you can take while a posterior vitreal detachment is occurring. You should be checked for the presence of significant retinal breaks. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Are there good natural cures for dry eyes? I don’t want to use drugs and medicated eye drops if i can help it. I’ve read that flaxseed oil can help make tears more oily so they don’t evaporate so fast. Is this true? Are there any other natural solutions?
Although : Although taking flax seed oil by mouth can improve symptoms of dry eye, it will not have an immediate effect (and can take up to two months to be noted). In the meantime i agree that it is prudent to avoid medicated eye drops. Instead, use of a "preservative-free" artificial tear is both safe and provides immediate relief. These generally are sold over the counter and come in small plastic vials for single use. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Sure: Most tendon tears can be fixed including gluteus tears. Some authors are even describing arthroscopic/endoscopic options. However the indications (why it should be fixed) and what are the outcomes (how much will it help you) are very unclear in the current literature. I would have to say that most surgeons would not recommend repair of isolated minimus tears, but discus this with your surgeon. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Unlikely: Typically a person develops an allergic response to an airborne allergen that contacts the moist surface of the eyes. While the tears contain multiple proteins that are cytokines, mediators, and inhibitors, a person does not become allergic to these substances.
