Top molar on right side is bad and causes me pain. Very sensitive to hot & cold but now pain in ear and temple. Dentist appt thursday. Any advice?

Until appointment:: Avoid hot and cold foods and liquids, uses OTC pain medication such as Advil, Aleve, (naproxen) Motrin or what you would normally take for a headache and if necessary see if you can get an earlier appointment (or find another dentist to at least see you for this emergency). Try to save the tooth if possible. ...Read more

Can carbide peroxide damage your ears? My ears felt like they constantly needed to be popped, no pain or discharge beforehand. Now I have an earache?

Cleaning: Carbide peroxide is used to remove ear wax. If you have used this product and still have the problem, get checked by a specialist. The pain and discharge is often associated with an infection which, as you described, does not seem to be your problem.

My ears feel plugged and muffled and I am now extremely sensitive to sound. Hearing even footsteps hurts like crazy. Is this a normal earache?

No: An earache means your ear actually hurts. Does your ear hurt? Are you more sensitive to internal sounds such as that occurs when chewing or hearing your own footsteps rather than of others? If that is the case and your ear does not hurt, when considering your other symptoms, it sounds like you may have accumulated fluid behind your ear drum, what we call serous otitis media. ...Read more

Used peroxide in left ear it was okay, did the right ear and now I have a earache. I just tried a warm washcloth on it nothing helped.

Used peroxide in left ear it was okay, did the right ear and now I have a earache. I just tried a warm washcloth on it nothing helped.

I hate peroxide: As a rule I tell my patients to 100% leave their ears alone. Qtips and peroxide should never be used in the ear. Both cause far more problems than they solve. In your case the skin of your right ear may have been inflamed and the peroxide made it worse or you might have had a small hole in your eardrum and the peroxide got into your middle ear space. Do nothing more to your ear and see a doctor. ...Read more

Been having a lot of earache problems nd the other day I was waching my face nd I got stinging behind my ear n later it was ozzing nd now its crusty?

Discharge behind ear: Discharge behind the ear is not very common. A common cause is severe seborrheic dermatitis rash. Otherwise, most earache associated with discharge is due to an ear infection--either middle ear (otitis media) or external ear (swimmer's ear). The oozing and crusting of skin behind the ear suggests intense inflammation and/or infection. Treatment: cortisone cream and/or antibiotics. ...Read more

M58, I am left with 12 teeth in lower jaw and 8 in upper jaw from several ears. Now I feel pain in ear. Could this be due to unbalanced chewing.

See ENT first: To rule out ear infection. Also remember that your teeth are important for your dental and general health. They help you chew, swallow, speak, and smile. The loss of any tooth may cause your mouth to shift and your face to look older and effect your digestion. The good news is missing teeth can be replaced. Depending on your needs the options are: implants, fix bridges and removable partials. ...Read more
