Hard to say: Your perception may be right but the cause may be structural. Some people have a rib cage that stands out more on side than the other based on how the vertebrae in your back line up. In any case, you can have this sorted out during a visit with your doc. ...Read more

Wedge resection right lung 1/15/15. Still have chest tube in due to small air leak. Painful barking cough just started. What is it?

Nonspecific: Could be a normal reaction from the breathing tube you had during the surgery. Could also be an upper respiratory infection. Other than causing pain at the incision site, its probably not dangerous. Ask your doctor when he/she is making rounds, or at your next visit. Can try some cough suppressant in he mean time. Hope this helps! ...Read more

My right lung hurts when I breath unless I breath really shallow?

My right lung hurts when I breath unless I breath really shallow?

Pleurisy or other dx: Pain with breathing is called 'pleuritic pain'. Pleurisy or pneumonia can cause inflammation of the 'lung lining' so it is important to distinguish these 2 causes. Pneumonia usually has other symptoms: cough/fever/fatigue/short of breath. A chest xray can help make the diagnosis. The treatment for pleurisy is 'anti-inflammatories' (nsaids) such as aleve (naproxen). Hope you are better soon! ...Read more

Sharp pain in the lower right side of my right lung like a knot, and it can happen randomly, I am a non smoker and no one in my family does?

Probably not lung: Pain where you're describing and how you're describing is more likely a referred pain meaning that even though you may think it's 'in' your lung because it's in that vicinity actually, it is coming from another structure which could be either there or close by. In this case, musculoskeletal is most likely. However, do seek out help if it doesn't clear in short order. ...Read more
