Help please! Is air injected into the colon during a colonoscopy?

Help please! Is air injected into the colon during a colonoscopy?

Yes: Colonoscopies generally require slight insufflation of air into the colon... This distends it and allows your doctor to look for polyps. This distension may cause some discomfort which is why most patients get sedated for the procedure. Your doctor generally will try to release all the gas at the end of the procedure so you don't feel too bloated!

Does the air pumped into the colon also inflate the small intestine? What part of the intestine is likely to be involved in a inguinal hernia?

Yes.: Insufflated air from colonoscopy does pass the ileocecal valve and to a degree insufflate small bowel. An inguinal hernia sac may contain omentum (fatty tissue over bowel), small intestine, or colon.

I have Diverticulosis in the splenic flexure it continues to spasm and cause pain causing air to back up in my transverse colon. What can I do?

I have Diverticulosis in the splenic flexure it continues to spasm and cause pain causing air to back up in my transverse colon. What can I do?

Diet, fiber, fluids: "diverticulosis" is a condition where the colon has small outpouchings (diverticuli) of the colon lining that can get plugged up and infected causing symptoms."diverticulitits" is an inflamation of these divertiuli of the colon. There are antibiotics can cure the infection but not the diverticuli. Surgery to remove the section of colon "diverticuli" will often cure the disease.

I had a CT scan done about two weeks ago and I got a copy of the results. It read that I had air-fluid in my small bowels and colon. What is that?

Gas & fluid: It is usually normal to see some air and fluid in the bowels. It also depends on why you had the study done in first place. There are conditions where this becomes important so discuss the results with your doctor

Is air bubbles in urine a sign of colon cancer?

Not necessarily: Air bubbles when urinating implies a connection between the bladder and the colon (colovesical fistula), often seen with diverticular disease, and with advanced colon cancer. If there is a lot of bubbles in the bowl following urination, it may be normal, or may suggest increased amount of protein being voided.

What does ct scan results mean? Large amount of colonic stool confirm moderate amount of free peritoneal air as well as air in the anterior wall and the retro peritoneum. The study was with IV contrast only.

What does ct scan results mean? Large amount of colonic stool confirm moderate amount of free peritoneal air as well as air in the anterior wall and the retro peritoneum. The study was with IV contrast only.

Prob not good.: The large amount of stool in the colon is not necessarily abnormal BUT, air in the abdomen means the bowel has had a leakage OR it is post surgery. cannot say in your particular case, but generally, if there isn't surgery, a burst bowel is often fatal.

Do colon clense help?

Do colon clense help?

Crazy: Dr nguyen and heller are quite correct. The state of texas prosecuted practitioners of colonic cleansing because the procedure was ineffective and dangerous. This is outlawed in texas now. Patients were killed by perforation of the colon by inexperienced practitioners. This is a practice without scientific basis, in a word - quackery.

Signs of a colon problem?

Signs of a colon problem?

Many and varied: Depending on the problem, signs can include nausea and vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, bleeding from the rectum, abdominal cramping, weight loss or gain or no symptoms at all. If you suspect some sort of problem with your colon, see your doc right away for an examination and evaluation.

How can I clean my colon?

Not necessary: The desire to clean the colon relates to ancient medical theories about internal toxicity derived from the colon. The colon, thank you, is fully capable of taking care of itself and needs no cleansing. You can pay a great deal of money to alternate practitioners for colon cleansing but this is money badly spent. If you think you have medical problems, see your family doctor.

Do colon cleansings work?

No: There is no need for and no benefit of doing colon cleansings. Your colon cleanses itself by having bowel movements. There is no buildup of toxins anywhere in the colon. Colon cleansings are unnecessary and can be unhealthy. Stick with a high-fiber diet for good colon health! Good luck.

Does colon clensing work?

Does colon clensing work?

Not a fan: I am not a fan of these techniques. Your colon is made to handle a high bacterial load and eliminate wastes. Proper nutrition and a high fiber diet with good hydration help it to work better in doing this. Aggressive cleanses can upset electrolyte balance and lead to colon irritation as well as upset normal bacterial flora (and lead to things like c-difficile colitis).

How to clean colon naturally?

FIber and Water: The best way to do so is to increase your fiber and water intake. As a normal adult, a person needs between 25-35 gr of fiber a day with plenty water. THat should be enough to clean your colon naturally and have regular and soft bowel movements. I hope this help. Be well
