What is average life span if I stop all aids medicines?

What is average life span if I stop all aids medicines?

Depends on CD4, VL: Hmm... not sure I want to help with this sort of question. Why would you (or someone close to you?) with HIV stop taking medications for it? If you are depressed or otherwise upset, please get counseling. That said, the "average" life span is impossible to say without knowing things like your CD4 count and viral load (VL). Anywhere from a few months to 20 years, but probably usually 2-5 years. ...Read more

Can you please describe the drugs used to cure aids completly?

These drugs are able to clear the bloodstream of hiv, but HIV is very clever and is able to hide out in other places, like lymph nodes, where it can lay dormant or sleeping for years. The drugs are not able to get to these hiding places to kill hiv, thus no cure. ...Read more

Are there drugs that prevent HIV from ever turning into aids?

Antiretrovirals: There are drugs called antiretrovirals that when taken in combinations (often three drugs at one time) can extend the lives of patients with HIV for many decades. These drugs can result in boosted immune function (preservation of high cd4+ cell counts) and can reduce measurable viral loads to undetectable levels. These drug combinations are, however, not a 'cure' for hiv. ...Read more

Friend just got diagnosed with aids. cd4 = 10, took ARV drugs on thursday now feels weak. Is this normal?

Advanced AIDS: Unfortunately if your friend has a CD4 count of 10, that means there's significant damage to his immune system. Those medications are the only way to recover from this -yet there could be side effects depending on what medications he's actually on. Good to check back with the doctor. In Manila you can find help at San Lazaro hospital - I know some of the docs there if you need a contact. God bless ...Read more
